So the priest gave him consecrated
bread;
for there was no bread there except the bread of the Presence which was removed from
its place
before the
Lord
, in order to put hot bread
in its place
on the day it was taken away.
7
Now one of the servants of Saul was there that day, detained before the
Lord
; and his name was Doeg the Edomite, the chief of Saul’s shepherds.

So the priest gave him hallowed bread: for there was no bread there but the shewbread, that was taken from before the
Lord
, to put hot bread in the day when it was taken away.

Now a certain man of the servants of Saul was there that day, detained before the
Lord
; and his name was Doeg, an Edomite, the chiefest of the herdmen that belonged to Saul.

. When the bread was removed, it had been replaced with warm bread.

One of Saul’s servants, detained before the
Lord
, was there that day. His name was Doeg the Edomite, chief of Saul’s shepherds.

Since there was no other food available, the priest gave him the holy bread — the Bread of the Presence that was placed before the
Lord
in the Tabernacle. It had just been replaced that day with fresh bread.

Now Doeg the Edomite, Saul’s chief herdsman, was there that day, having been detained before the
