Chapter 17
2Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, 3Go away from here and turn eastward, and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, which is east of the Jordan. 4And it shall be that you will drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to provide food for you there.' 5So he went and did everything according to the word of the Lord, for he went and lived by the brook Cherith, which is east of the Jordan. 6And the ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he would drink from the brook. 7But it happened after a while that the brook dried up, because there was no rain in the land.
8Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying,
9Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and stay there; behold, I have commanded a widow there to provide food for you.'
10So he arose and went to Zarephath, and when he came to the entrance of the city, behold, a widow was there gathering sticks; and he called to her and said, 'Please get me a little water in a cup, so that I may drink.'
11As she was going to get it, he called to her and said, 'Please bring me a piece of bread in your hand.'
12But she said, 'As the Lord your God lives, I have no food, only a handful of flour in the bowl and a little oil in the jar; and behold, I am gathering a few sticks so that I may go in and prepare it for me and my son, so that we may eat it and die.'
13However, Elijah said to her, 'Do not fear; go, do as you have said. Just make me a little bread loaf from it first and bring it out to me, and afterward you may make one for yourself and for your son.
14For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel says: ‘The bowl of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil become empty, until the day that the Lord provides rain on the face of the earth.’?'
15So she went and did everything in accordance with the word of Elijah, and she and he and her household ate for many days.
16The bowl of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil become empty, in accordance with the word of the Lord which He spoke through Elijah.

Chapter 17
2And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, 3Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan. 4And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there. 5So he went and did according unto the word of the LORD: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan. 6And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook. 7And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.
8And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,
9Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.
10So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.
11And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.
12And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.
13And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.
14For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth.
15And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.
16And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah.

Chapter 17
2Then the word of the Lord came to him: 3"Leave here, turn eastward, and hide at the Wadi Cherith where it enters the Jordan. 4You are to drink from the wadi. I have commanded the ravens to provide for you there."
5So he proceeded to do what the Lord commanded. Elijah left and lived at the Wadi Cherith where it enters the Jordan.
6The ravens kept bringing him bread and meat in the morning and in the evening, and he would drink from the wadi.
7After a while, the wadi dried up because there had been no rain in the land.
8Then the word of the Lord came to him:
9"Get up, go to Zarephath that belongs to Sidon and stay there. Look, I have commanded a woman who is a widow to provide for you there."
10So Elijah got up and went to Zarephath. When he arrived at the city gate, there was a widow gathering wood. Elijah called to her and said, "Please bring me a little water in a cup and let me drink."
11As she went to get it, he called to her and said, "Please bring me a piece of bread in your hand."
13Then Elijah said to her, "Don't be afraid; go and do as you have said. But first make me a small loaf from it and bring it out to me. Afterward, you may make some for yourself and your son,
14for this is what the Lord God of Israel says, 'The flour jar will not become empty and the oil jug will not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain on the surface of the land.' "
New Living Translation
Chapter 17
2Then the Lord said to Elijah, 3Go to the east and hide by Kerith Brook, near where it enters the Jordan River. 4Drink from the brook and eat what the ravens bring you, for I have commanded them to bring you food.'
5So Elijah did as the Lord told him and camped beside Kerith Brook, east of the Jordan.
6The ravens brought him bread and meat each morning and evening, and he drank from the brook.
7But after a while the brook dried up, for there was no rainfall anywhere in the land.
8Then the Lord said to Elijah,
9Go and live in the village of Zarephath, near the city of Sidon. I have instructed a widow there to feed you.'
10So he went to Zarephath. As he arrived at the gates of the village, he saw a widow gathering sticks, and he asked her, 'Would you please bring me a little water in a cup?'
11As she was going to get it, he called to her, 'Bring me a bite of bread, too.'
13But Elijah said to her, 'Don’t be afraid! Go ahead and do just what you’ve said, but make a little bread for me first. Then use what’s left to prepare a meal for yourself and your son.
14For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: There will always be flour and olive oil left in your containers until the time when the Lord sends rain and the crops grow again!'

12And she said, “As the LORD your God lives, I have nothing baked, only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. And now I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it and die.”
13And Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go and do as you have said. But first make me a little cake of it and bring it to me, and afterward make something for yourself and your son.
14For thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, ‘The jar of flour shall not be spent, and the jug of oil shall not be empty, until the day that the LORD sends rain upon the earth.’”
15And she went and did as Elijah said. And she and he and her household ate for many days.
16The jar of flour was not spent, neither did the jug of oil become empty, according to the word of the LORD that he spoke by Elijah.

Chapter 17
2Then the word of the LORD came to Elijah: 3Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan. 4You will drink from the brook, and I have directed the ravens to supply you with food there.'
5So he did what the LORD had told him. He went to the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan, and stayed there.
6The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook.
7Some time later the brook dried up because there had been no rain in the land.
8Then the word of the LORD came to him:
9Go at once to Zarephath in the region of Sidon and stay there. I have directed a widow there to supply you with food.'
10So he went to Zarephath. When he came to the town gate, a widow was there gathering sticks. He called to her and asked, 'Would you bring me a little water in a jar so I may have a drink?'
11As she was going to get it, he called, 'And bring me, please, a piece of bread.'
13Elijah said to her, 'Don't be afraid. Go home and do as you have said. But first make a small loaf of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son.
14For this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the LORD sends rain on the land.''
