1 Kings 17:2-9
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 17
2
Then the word of the
Lord
came to him, saying,
3
Go
away
from here and turn eastward, and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, which is east of the Jordan.
4
And it shall be that you will drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to provide food for you there.'
5
So he went and did
everything
according to the word of the
Lord
, for he went and lived by the brook Cherith, which is east of the Jordan.
6
And the ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he would drink from the brook.
7
But it happened after a while that the brook dried up, because there was no rain in the land.
8
Then the word of the
Lord
came to him, saying,
9
Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and stay there; behold, I have commanded a widow there to provide food for you.'
King James Version
Chapter 17
2
And the word of the
Lord
came unto him, saying,
3
Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.
4
And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.
5
So he went and did according unto the word of the
Lord
: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.
6
And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.
7
And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.
8
And the word of the
Lord
came unto him, saying,
9
Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 17
2
Then the word of the
Lord
came to him:
3
"Leave here, turn eastward, and hide at the Wadi Cherith where it enters the Jordan.
4
You are to drink from the wadi. I have commanded the ravens to provide for you there."
5
So he proceeded to do what the
Lord
commanded. Elijah left and lived at the Wadi Cherith where it enters the Jordan.
6
The ravens kept bringing him bread and meat in the morning and in the evening, and he would drink from the wadi.
7
After a while, the wadi dried up because there had been no rain in the land.
8
Then the word of the
Lord
came to him:
9
"Get up, go to Zarephath that belongs to Sidon and stay there. Look, I have commanded a woman who is a widow to provide for you there."
New Living Translation
Chapter 17
2
Then the
Lord
said to Elijah,
3
Go to the east and hide by Kerith Brook, near where it enters the Jordan River.
4
Drink from the brook and eat what the ravens bring you, for I have commanded them to bring you food.'
5
So Elijah did as the
Lord
told him and camped beside Kerith Brook, east of the Jordan.
6
The ravens brought him bread and meat each morning and evening, and he drank from the brook.
7
But after a while the brook dried up, for there was no rainfall anywhere in the land.
8
Then the
Lord
said to Elijah,
9
Go and live in the village of Zarephath, near the city of Sidon. I have instructed a widow there to feed you.'
