1 Kings 16:30-34
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 16
30
Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the
Lord
more than all who were before him.
31
And as though it had been a trivial thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, he married Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshiped him.
32
So he erected an altar for Baal at the house of Baal, which he built in Samaria.
33
Ahab also made the Asherah. So Ahab did more to provoke the
Lord
God of Israel to anger than all the kings of Israel who were before him.
34
In his days Hiel the Bethelite rebuilt Jericho; he laid its foundations with
the loss of
Abiram his firstborn, and set up its gates with
the loss of
his youngest son Segub, in accordance with the word of the
Lord
, which He spoke by Joshua the son of Nun.
King James Version
Chapter 16
30
And Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the
Lord
above all that were before him.
31
And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him.
32
And he reared up an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he had built in Samaria.
33
And Ahab made a grove; and Ahab did more to provoke the
Lord
God of Israel to anger than all the kings of Israel that were before him.
34
In his days did Hiel the Bethelite build Jericho: he laid the foundation thereof in Abiram his firstborn, and set up the gates thereof in his youngest son Segub, according to the word of the
Lord
, which he spake by Joshua the son of Nun.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 16
30
But Ahab son of Omri did what was evil in the
Lord
’s sight more than all who were before him.
31
Then, as if following the sin of Jeroboam son of Nebat were not enough, he married Jezebel, the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and then proceeded to serve Baal and bow in worship to him.
32
He set up an altar for Baal in the temple of Baal that he had built in Samaria.
33
Ahab also made an Asherah pole. Ahab did more to anger the
Lord
God of Israel than all the kings of Israel who were before him.
34
During his reign, Hiel the Bethelite built Jericho. At the cost of Abiram his firstborn, he laid its foundation, and at the cost of Segub his youngest, he finished its gates, according to the word of the
Lord
he had spoken through Joshua son of Nun.
New Living Translation
Chapter 16
30
But Ahab son of Omri did what was evil in the
Lord
’s sight, even more than any of the kings before him.
31
And as though it were not enough to follow the sinful example of Jeroboam, he married Jezebel, the daughter of King Ethbaal of the Sidonians, and he began to bow down in worship of Baal.
32
First Ahab built a temple and an altar for Baal in Samaria.
33
Then he set up an Asherah pole. He did more to provoke the anger of the
Lord
, the God of Israel, than any of the other kings of Israel before him.
34
It was during his reign that Hiel, a man from Bethel, rebuilt Jericho. When he laid its foundations, it cost him the life of his oldest son, Abiram. And when he completed it and set up its gates, it cost him the life of his youngest son, Segub. This all happened according to the message from the
Lord
concerning Jericho spoken by Joshua son of Nun.

Chapter 16
30
Ahab son of Omri did more evil in the eyes of the
Lord
than any of those before him.
31
He not only considered it trivial to commit the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, but he also married Jezebel daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and began to serve Baal and worship him.
32
He set up an altar for Baal in the temple of Baal that he built in Samaria.
33
Ahab also made an Asherah pole and did more to arouse the anger of the
Lord
, the God of Israel, than did all the kings of Israel before him.
34
In Ahab’s time, Hiel of Bethel rebuilt Jericho. He laid its foundations at the cost of his firstborn son Abiram, and he set up its gates at the cost of his youngest son Segub, in accordance with the word of the
