1 Kings 12:16-18
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 12
16
When all Israel
saw
that the king had not listened to them, the people replied to the king, saying,
'What share do we have in David?
We have
no inheritance in the son of Jesse;
To your tents, Israel!
Now look after your own house, David!'
So Israel went
away
to their tents.
17
But as for the sons of Israel who lived in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.
18
Then King Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was in charge of the forced labor, and all Israel stoned him to death. And King Rehoboam hurried to mount his chariot to flee to Jerusalem.
King James Version
Chapter 12
16
So when all Israel saw that the king hearkened not unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: to your tents, O Israel: now see to thine own house, David. So Israel departed unto their tents.
17
But as for the children of Israel which dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.
18
Then king Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was over the tribute; and all Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. Therefore king Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 12
16
When all Israel saw that the king had not listened to them, the people answered him:
What portion do we have in David?
We have no inheritance in the son of Jesse.
Israel, return to your tents;
David, now look after your own house!
So Israel went to their tents,
17
but Rehoboam reigned over the Israelites living in the cities of Judah.
18
Then King Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was in charge of forced labor, but all Israel stoned him to death. King Rehoboam managed to get into the chariot and flee to Jerusalem.
New Living Translation
Chapter 12
16
When all Israel realized that the king had refused to listen to them, they responded,
'Down with the dynasty of David!
We have no interest in the son of Jesse.
Back to your homes, O Israel!
Look out for your own house, O David!'
So the people of Israel returned home.
17
But Rehoboam continued to rule over the Israelites who lived in the towns of Judah.
18
King Rehoboam sent Adoniram, who was in charge of forced labor, to restore order, but the people of Israel stoned him to death. When this news reached King Rehoboam, he quickly jumped into his chariot and fled to Jerusalem.
English Standard Version
Chapter 12
16
And when all Israel saw that the king did not listen to them, the people answered the king, "What portion do we have in David? We have no inheritance in the son of Jesse. To your tents, O Israel! Look now to your own house, David." So Israel went to their tents.
17
But Rehoboam reigned over the people of Israel who lived in the cities of Judah.
18
Then King Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was taskmaster over the forced labor, and all Israel stoned him to death with stones. And King Rehoboam hurried to mount his chariot to flee to Jerusalem.

Chapter 12
16
When all Israel saw that the king refused to listen to them, they answered the king:
"What share do we have in David,
what part in Jesse’s son?
To your tents, Israel!
Look after your own house, David!"
So the Israelites went home.
17
But as for the Israelites who were living in the towns of Judah, Rehoboam still ruled over them.
18
King Rehoboam sent out Adoniram, who was in charge of forced labor, but all Israel stoned him to death. King Rehoboam, however, managed to get into his chariot and escape to Jerusalem.
New King James Version

To your tents, O Israel!
Now, see to your own house, O David!”
So Israel departed to their tents.
17
But Rehoboam reigned over the children of Israel who dwelt in the cities of Judah.
18
Then King Rehoboam sent Adoram, who
