1 John 5:3-14
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 5
3For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome. 4For whoever has been born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world: our faith.
5Who is the one who overcomes the world, but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
6This is the One who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and with the blood. It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.
7For there are three that testify:
8the Spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.
9If we receive the testimony of people, the testimony of God is greater; for the testimony of God is this, that He has testified concerning His Son.
10The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son.
11And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
12The one who has the Son has the life; the one who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.
King James Version
Chapter 5
3For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. 4For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. 5Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
6This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
7For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
8And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
9If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.
10He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
11And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

Chapter 5
3For this is what love for God is: to keep his commands. And his commands are not a burden, 4because everyone who has been born of God conquers the world. This is the victory that has conquered the world: our faith.
5Who is the one who conquers the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
6Jesus Christ—he is the one who came by water and blood, not by water only, but by water and by blood. And the Spirit is the one who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.
7For there are three that testify:
8the Spirit, the water, and the blood —and these three are in agreement.
9If we accept human testimony, God’s testimony is greater, because it is God’s testimony that he has given about his Son.
10The one who believes in the Son of God has this testimony within himself. The one who does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony God has given about his Son.
11And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12The one who has the Son has life. The one who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
13I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.
New Living Translation
Chapter 5
3Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome. 4For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith. 5And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.
6And Jesus Christ was revealed as God’s Son by his baptism in water and by shedding his blood on the cross — not by water only, but by water and blood. And the Spirit, who is truth, confirms it with his testimony.
7So we have these three witnesses —
8the Spirit, the water, and the blood — and all three agree.
9Since we believe human testimony, surely we can believe the greater testimony that comes from God. And God has testified about his Son.
10All who believe in the Son of God know in their hearts that this testimony is true. Those who don’t believe this are actually calling God a liar because they don’t believe what God has testified about his Son.

Chapter 5
3In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, 4for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 5Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

7For there are three that testify:
8the Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.
9We accept human testimony, but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son.
10Whoever believes in the Son of God accepts this testimony. Whoever does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because they have not believed the testimony God has given about his Son.
11And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.
