1 John 5:15-16
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 5
15
And if we know that He hears us
in
whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.
16
If anyone sees his brother
or sister
committing a sin not
leading
to death, he shall ask and
God
will, for him, give life to those who commit sin not
leading
to death. There is sin
leading
to death; I am not saying that he should ask about that.
King James Version
Chapter 5
15
And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
16
If any man see his brother sin a sin
which is
not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 5
15
And if we know that he hears whatever we ask, we know that we have what we have asked of him.
16
If anyone sees a fellow believer committing a sin that doesn’t lead to death, he should ask, and God will give life to him—to those who commit sin that doesn’t lead to death. There is sin that leads to death. I am not saying he should pray about that.
New Living Translation
Chapter 5
15
And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.
16
If you see a fellow believer sinning in a way that does not lead to death, you should pray, and God will give that person life. But there is a sin that leads to death, and I am not saying you should pray for those who commit it.
English Standard Version
Chapter 5
15
And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.
16
If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he shall ask, and God will give him life — to those who commit sins that do not lead to death. There is sin that leads to death; I do not say that one should pray for that.
New International Version
Chapter 5
15
And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.
16
If you see any brother or sister commit a sin that does not lead to death, you should pray and God will give them life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am not saying that you should pray about that.
New King James Version
Chapter 5
15
And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
16
If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin
which does
not
lead
to death, he will ask, and He will give him life for those who commit sin not
leading
to death. There is sin
leading
to death. I do not say that he should pray about that.
