1 Corinthians 7:21-22
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 7
21
Were you called as a slave? Do not let it concern you. But if you are also able to become free, take advantage of
that.
22
For the one who was called in the Lord as a slave, is the Lord’s freed person; likewise the one who was called as free, is Christ’s slave.
King James Version
Chapter 7
21
Art thou called
being
a servant? care not for it: but if thou mayest be made free, use
it
rather.
22
For he that is called in the Lord,
being
a servant, is the Lord's freeman: likewise also he that is called,
being
free, is Christ's servant.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 7
21
Were you called while a slave? Don't let it concern you. But if you can become free, by all means take the opportunity.
22
For he who is called by the Lord as a slave is the Lord's freedman. Likewise he who is called as a free man is Christ's slave.
New Living Translation
Chapter 7
21
Are you a slave? Don’t let that worry you — but if you get a chance to be free, take it.
22
And remember, if you were a slave when the Lord called you, you are now free in the Lord. And if you were free when the Lord called you, you are now a slave of Christ.
English Standard Version
Chapter 7
21
Were you a bondservant when called? Do not be concerned about it. (But if you can gain your freedom, avail yourself of the opportunity.)
22
For he who was called in the Lord as a bondservant is a freedman of the Lord. Likewise he who was free when called is a bondservant of Christ.
New International Version
Chapter 7
21
Were you a slave when you were called? Don't let it trouble you--although if you can gain your freedom, do so.
22
For the one who was a slave when called to faith in the Lord is the Lord's freed person; similarly, the one who was free when called is Christ's slave.
New King James Version
Chapter 7
21
Were you called
while
a slave? Do not be concerned about it; but if you can be made free, rather use
it.
22
For he who is called in the Lord
while
a slave is the Lord’s freedman. Likewise he who is called
while
free is Christ’s slave.
