1 Corinthians 7:19-26
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 7
19Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but what matters is the keeping of the commandments of God. 20Each person is to remain in that state in which he was called.
21Were you called as a slave? Do not let it concern you. But if you are also able to become free, take advantage of that.
22For the one who was called in the Lord as a slave, is the Lord’s freed person; likewise the one who was called as free, is Christ’s slave.
23You were bought for a price; do not become slaves of people.
24Brothers and sisters, each one is to remain with God in that condition in which he was called.
King James Version
Chapter 7
19Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God. 20Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called. 21Art thou called being a servant? care not for it: but if thou mayest be made free, use it rather. 22For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord's freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ's servant. 23Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men. 24Brethren, let every man, wherein he is called, therein abide with God.Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 7
19Circumcision does not matter and uncircumcision does not matter. Keeping God's commands is what matters. 20Let each of you remain in the situation in which he was called. 21Were you called while a slave? Don't let it concern you. But if you can become free, by all means take the opportunity. 22For he who is called by the Lord as a slave is the Lord's freedman. Likewise he who is called as a free man is Christ's slave. 23You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of people. 24Brothers and sisters, each person is to remain with God in the situation in which he was called.New Living Translation
20Yes, each of you should remain as you were when God called you.
21Are you a slave? Don’t let that worry you — but if you get a chance to be free, take it.
22And remember, if you were a slave when the Lord called you, you are now free in the Lord. And if you were free when the Lord called you, you are now a slave of Christ.
23God paid a high price for you, so don’t be enslaved by the world.
24Each of you, dear brothers and sisters, should remain as you were when God first called you.
English Standard Version
Chapter 7
19For neither circumcision counts for anything nor uncircumcision, but keeping the commandments of God. 20Each one should remain in the condition in which he was called. 21Were you a bondservant when called? Do not be concerned about it. (But if you can gain your freedom, avail yourself of the opportunity.) 22For he who was called in the Lord as a bondservant is a freedman of the Lord. Likewise he who was free when called is a bondservant of Christ. 23You were bought with a price; do not become bondservants of men. 24So, brothers, in whatever condition each was called, there let him remain with God.New International Version
Chapter 7
19Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Keeping God's commands is what counts. 20Each person should remain in the situation they were in when God called them.
21Were you a slave when you were called? Don't let it trouble you--although if you can gain your freedom, do so.
22For the one who was a slave when called to faith in the Lord is the Lord's freed person; similarly, the one who was free when called is Christ's slave.
23You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of human beings.
24Brothers and sisters, each person, as responsible to God, should remain in the situation they were in when God called them.
