1 Corinthians 16:7-12
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 16
7
For I do not want to see you now
just
in passing; for I hope to remain with you for some time, if the Lord permits.
8
But I will remain in Ephesus until Pentecost;
9
for a wide door for effective
service
has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.
10
Now if Timothy comes, see that he has no reason to be afraid
while
among you, for he is doing the Lord’s work, as I also am.
11
So do not look down on him, anyone. But send him on his way in peace, so that he may come to me; for I expect him with the brothers.
12
Now concerning our brother Apollos, I strongly encouraged him to come to you with the brothers; and it was not at all
his
desire to come now, but he will come when he has the opportunity.
King James Version
Chapter 16
7
For I will not see you now by the way; but I trust to tarry a while with you, if the Lord permit.
8
But I will tarry at Ephesus until Pentecost.
9
For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.
10
Now if Timotheus come, see that he may be with you without fear: for he worketh the work of the Lord, as I also do.
11
Let no man therefore despise him: but conduct him forth in peace, that he may come unto me: for I look for him with the brethren.
12
As touching our brother Apollos, I greatly desired him to come unto you with the brethren: but his will was not at all to come at this time; but he will come when he shall have convenient time.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 16
7
I don’t want to see you now just in passing, since I hope to spend some time with you, if the Lord allows.
8
But I will stay in Ephesus until Pentecost,
9
because a wide door for effective ministry has opened for me —yet many oppose me.
10
If Timothy comes, see that he has nothing to fear while with you, because he is doing the Lord’s work, just as I am.
11
So let no one look down on him. Send him on his way in peace so that he can come to me, because I am expecting him with the brothers.
12
Now about our brother Apollos: I strongly urged him to come to you with the brothers, but he was not at all willing to come now. However, he will come when he has an opportunity.
New Living Translation
Chapter 16
7
This time I don’t want to make just a short visit and then go right on. I want to come and stay awhile, if the Lord will let me.
8
In the meantime, I will be staying here at Ephesus until the Festival of Pentecost.
9
There is a wide-open door for a great work here, although many oppose me.
10
When Timothy comes, don’t intimidate him. He is doing the Lord’s work, just as I am.
11
Don’t let anyone treat him with contempt. Send him on his way with your blessing when he returns to me. I expect him to come with the other believers.
12
Now about our brother Apollos — I urged him to visit you with the other believers, but he was not willing to go right now. He will see you later when he has the opportunity.
English Standard Version
Chapter 16
7
For I do not want to see you now just in passing. I hope to spend some time with you, if the Lord permits.
8
But I will stay in Ephesus until Pentecost,
9
for a wide door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.
10
When Timothy comes, see that you put him at ease among you, for he is doing the work of the Lord, as I am.
11
So let no one despise him. Help him on his way in peace, that he may return to me, for I am expecting him with the brothers.
12
Now concerning our brother Apollos, I strongly urged him to visit you with the other brothers, but it was not at all his will to come now. He will come when he has opportunity.
New International Version
Chapter 16
7
For I do not want to see you now and make only a passing visit; I hope to spend some time with you, if the Lord permits.
8
But I will stay on at Ephesus until Pentecost,
9
because a great door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many who oppose me.
10
When Timothy comes, see to it that he has nothing to fear while he is with you, for he is carrying on the work of the Lord, just as I am.
11
No one, then, should treat him with contempt. Send him on his way in peace so that he may return to me. I am expecting him along with the brothers.
12
Now about our brother Apollos: I strongly urged him to go to you with the brothers. He was quite unwilling to go now, but he will go when he has the opportunity.
New King James Version
Chapter 16
7
For I do not wish to see you now on the way; but I hope to stay a while with you, if the Lord permits.
8
But I will tarry in Ephesus until Pentecost.
9
For a great and effective door has opened to me, and
there are
many adversaries.
10
And if Timothy comes, see that he may be with you without fear; for he does the work of the Lord, as I also
do.
11
Therefore let no one despise him. But send him on his journey in peace, that he may come to me; for I am waiting for him with the brethren.
12
Now concerning
our
brother Apollos, I strongly urged him to come to you with the brethren, but he was quite unwilling to come at this time; however, he will come when he has a convenient time.
