1 Corinthians 12:13-17
New American Standard Bible
14For the body is not one part, but many.
15If the foot says, 'Because I am not a hand, I am not a part of the body,' it is not for this reason any less a part of the body.
16And if the ear says, 'Because I am not an eye, I am not a part of the body,' it is not for this reason any less a part of the body.
17If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole body were hearing, where would the sense of smell be?
King James Version
Chapter 12
13For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. 14For the body is not one member, but many. 15If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? 16And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? 17If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 12
13For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body--whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free--and we were all given one Spirit to drink. 14Indeed, the body is not one part but many. 15If the foot should say, "Because I'm not a hand, I don't belong to the body," it is not for that reason any less a part of the body. 16And if the ear should say, "Because I'm not an eye, I don't belong to the body," it is not for that reason any less a part of the body. 17If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be?New Living Translation
14Yes, the body has many different parts, not just one part.
15If the foot says, 'I am not a part of the body because I am not a hand,' that does not make it any less a part of the body.
16And if the ear says, 'I am not part of the body because I am not an eye,' would that make it any less a part of the body?
17If the whole body were an eye, how would you hear? Or if your whole body were an ear, how would you smell anything?
English Standard Version
14For the body does not consist of one member but of many.
15If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body.
16And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body.
17If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell?
New International Version
Chapter 12
13For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body--whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free--and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. 14Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.
15Now if the foot should say, 'Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,' it would not for that reason stop being part of the body.
16And if the ear should say, 'Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,' it would not for that reason stop being part of the body.
17If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be?
New King James Version
Chapter 12
13For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body— whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. 14For in fact the body is not one member but many.
15If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body?
16And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body?
17If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling?
