Chapter 12
8For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; 9to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10and to another the effecting of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues. 11But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills.
12For just as the body is one and yet has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ.
13For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.
14For the body is not one part, but many.
15If the foot says, 'Because I am not a hand, I am not a part of the body,' it is not for this reason any less a part of the body.
16And if the ear says, 'Because I am not an eye, I am not a part of the body,' it is not for this reason any less a part of the body.
17If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole body were hearing, where would the sense of smell be?
18But now God has arranged the parts, each one of them in the body, just as He desired.
19If they were all one part, where would the body be?

Chapter 12
8To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice ; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge. 9The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. 10He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages, while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said. 11It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have.
12The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ.
13Some of us are Jews, some are Gentiles, some are slaves, and some are free. But we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit.
14Yes, the body has many different parts, not just one part.
15If the foot says, 'I am not a part of the body because I am not a hand,' that does not make it any less a part of the body.
16And if the ear says, 'I am not part of the body because I am not an eye,' would that make it any less a part of the body?
17If the whole body were an eye, how would you hear? Or if your whole body were an ear, how would you smell anything?

12For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.
