Chapter 12

25From the sons of Simeon, valiant mighty men of war, 7,100. 26From the sons of Levi, 4,600. 27Now Jehoiada was the leader of the house of Aaron, and with him were 3,700, 28also Zadok, a young valiant mighty man, and from his father’s house, twenty-two captains. 29From the sons of Benjamin, Saul’s kinsmen, three thousand; for until now the majority of them had kept their allegiance to the house of Saul. 30From the sons of Ephraim 20,800, valiant mighty men, famous men in their fathers’ households. 31From the half-tribe of Manasseh eighteen thousand, who were designated by name to come and make David king. 32From the sons of Issachar, men who understood the times, with knowledge of what Israel should do, their chiefs were two hundred; and all their kinsmen were at their command. 33From Zebulun, there were fifty thousand who went out in the army, who could draw up in battle formation with all kinds of weapons of war and helped David with an undivided heart. 34From Naphtali there were a thousand captains, and with them thirty-seven thousand with shield and spear. 35From the Danites who could draw up in battle formation, there were 28,600. 36From Asher there were forty thousand who went out in the army to draw up in battle formation. 37From the other side of the Jordan, from the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, there were 120,000 with all kinds of weapons of war for the battle.
38All of these, being men of war who helped in battle formation, came to Hebron with a perfect heart to make David king over all Israel; and all the rest of Israel also were of one mind to make David king. 39They were there with David for three days, eating and drinking, for their kinsmen had prepared for them.

26Of the children of Levi four thousand and six hundred. 27And Jehoiada was the leader of the Aaronites, and with him were three thousand and seven hundred; 28And Zadok, a young man mighty of valour, and of his father's house twenty and two captains.
29And of the children of Benjamin, the kindred of Saul, three thousand: for hitherto the greatest part of them had kept the ward of the house of Saul.
30And of the children of Ephraim twenty thousand and eight hundred, mighty men of valour, famous throughout the house of their fathers.
31And of the half tribe of Manasseh eighteen thousand, which were expressed by name, to come and make David king.
32And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment.
33Of Zebulun, such as went forth to battle, expert in war, with all instruments of war, fifty thousand, which could keep rank: they were not of double heart.
34And of Naphtali a thousand captains, and with them with shield and spear thirty and seven thousand.
35And of the Danites expert in war twenty and eight thousand and six hundred.
36And of Asher, such as went forth to battle, expert in war, forty thousand.
37And on the other side of Jordan, of the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and of the half tribe of Manasseh, with all manner of instruments of war for the battle, an hundred and twenty thousand.
38All these men of war, that could keep rank, came with a perfect heart to Hebron, to make David king over all Israel: and all the rest also of Israel were of one heart to make David king. 39And there they were with David three days, eating and drinking: for their brethren had prepared for them.

30From the Ephraimites: 20,800 valiant warriors who were famous men in their ancestral families.
31From half the tribe of Manasseh: 18,000 designated by name to come and make David king.
32From the Issacharites, who understood the times and knew what Israel should do: 200 chiefs with all their relatives under their command.
33From Zebulun: 50,000 who could serve in the army, trained for battle with all kinds of weapons of war, with one purpose to help David.
34From Naphtali: 1,000 commanders accompanied by 37,000 men with shield and spear.
35From the Danites: 28,600 trained for battle.
36From Asher: 40,000 who could serve in the army, trained for battle. 37From across the Jordan—from the Reubenites, Gadites, and half the tribe of Manasseh: 120,000 men equipped with all the military weapons of war.
38All these warriors, lined up in battle formation, came to Hebron wholeheartedly determined to make David king over all Israel. All the rest of Israel was also of one mind to make David king. 39They spent three days there eating and drinking with David, for their relatives had provided for them.

Chapter 12

25From the tribe of Simeon, there were 7,100 brave warriors.
26From the tribe of Levi, there were 4,600 warriors. 27This included Jehoiada, leader of the family of Aaron, who had 3,700 under his command. 28This also included Zadok, a brave young warrior, with 22 members of his family who were all officers.
29From the tribe of Benjamin, Saul’s relatives, there were 3,000 warriors. Most of the men from Benjamin had remained loyal to Saul until this time.
30From the tribe of Ephraim, there were 20,800 brave warriors, each highly respected in his own clan.
31From the half-tribe of Manasseh west of the Jordan, 18,000 men were designated by name to help David become king.
32From the tribe of Issachar, there were 200 leaders of the tribe with their relatives. All these men understood the signs of the times and knew the best course for Israel to take.
33From the tribe of Zebulun, there were 50,000 skilled warriors. They were fully armed and prepared for battle and completely loyal to David.
34From the tribe of Naphtali, there were 1,000 officers and 37,000 warriors armed with shields and spears.
35From the tribe of Dan, there were 28,600 warriors, all prepared for battle.
36From the tribe of Asher, there were 40,000 trained warriors, all prepared for battle.
37From the east side of the Jordan River — where the tribes of Reuben and Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh lived — there were 120,000 troops armed with every kind of weapon.
38All these men came in battle array to Hebron with the single purpose of making David the king over all Israel. In fact, everyone in Israel agreed that David should be their king. 39They feasted and drank with David for three days, for preparations had been made by their relatives for their arrival.

32from Issachar, men who understood the times and knew what Israel should do—200 chiefs, with all their relatives under their command;
33from Zebulun, experienced soldiers prepared for battle with every type of weapon, to help David with undivided loyalty—50,000;
34from Naphtali—1,000 officers, together with 37,000 men carrying shields and spears;
35from Dan, ready for battle—28,600;

38All these were fighting men who volunteered to serve in the ranks. They came to Hebron fully determined to make David king over all Israel. All the rest of the Israelites were also of one mind to make David king. 39The men spent three days there with David, eating and drinking, for their families had supplied provisions for them.
