What does Jonah 1:12 mean?
ESV: He said to them, "Pick me up and hurl me into the sea; then the sea will quiet down for you, for I know it is because of me that this great tempest has come upon you."
NIV: "Pick me up and throw me into the sea," he replied, "and it will become calm. I know that it is my fault that this great storm has come upon you."
NASB: And he said to them, 'Pick me up and hurl me into the sea. Then the sea will become calm for you, because I know that on account of me this great storm has come upon you.'
CSB: He answered them, "Pick me up and throw me into the sea so that it will calm down for you, for I know that I’m to blame for this great storm that is against you."
NLT: Throw me into the sea,' Jonah said, 'and it will become calm again. I know that this terrible storm is all my fault.'
KJV: And he said unto them, Take me up, and cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you: for I know that for my sake this great tempest is upon you.
NKJV: And he said to them, “Pick me up and throw me into the sea; then the sea will become calm for you. For I know that this great tempest is because of me.”
