What does Exodus 32:31 mean?
ESV: So Moses returned to the LORD and said, “Alas, this people has sinned a great sin. They have made for themselves gods of gold.
NIV: So Moses went back to the LORD and said, 'Oh, what a great sin these people have committed! They have made themselves gods of gold.

Book Summary:
The book of Exodus establishes God's covenant relationship with the full-fledged nation of Israel. The descendants of Abraham prosper after settling in Egypt, only to be enslaved by a fearful, hateful Egyptian Pharaoh. God appoints Moses to lead the people out of this bondage.
