What does Exodus 22:3 mean?
ESV: but if the sun has risen on him, there shall be bloodguilt for him. He shall surely pay. If he has nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.
NIV: but if it happens after sunrise, the defender is guilty of bloodshed. "Anyone who steals must certainly make restitution, but if they have nothing, they must be sold to pay for their theft.
NASB: If the sun has risen on him, there will be guilt for bloodshed on his account— A thief shall certainly make restitution; if he owns nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.

Book Summary:
The book of Exodus establishes God's covenant relationship with the full-fledged nation of Israel.
