Zechariah 11:9-12
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 11
9
Then I said, 'I will not pasture you. What is to die, let it die, and what is to perish, let it perish; and let those who are left eat one another’s flesh.'
10
And I took my staff Favor and cut it in pieces, to break my covenant which I had made with all the peoples.
11
So it was broken on that day, and so the afflicted of the flock who were watching me realized that it was the word of the
Lord
.
12
And I said to them, 'If it is good in your sight, give
me
my wages; but if not, never mind!' So they weighed out thirty
shekels
of silver as my wages.
King James Version
Chapter 11
9
Then said I, I will not feed you: that that dieth, let it die; and that that is to be cut off, let it be cut off; and let the rest eat every one the flesh of another.
10
And I took my staff, even Beauty, and cut it asunder, that I might break my covenant which I had made with all the people.
11
And it was broken in that day: and so the poor of the flock that waited upon me knew that it was the word of the
Lord
.
12
And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 11
9
Then I said, "I will no longer shepherd you. Let what is dying die, and let what is perishing perish; let the rest devour each other’s flesh."
10
Next I took my staff called Favor and cut it in two, annulling the covenant I had made with all the peoples.
11
It was annulled on that day, and so the oppressed of the flock who were watching me knew that it was the word of the
Lord
.
12
Then I said to them, "If it seems right to you, give me my wages; but if not, keep them." So they weighed my wages, thirty pieces of silver.
New Living Translation
Chapter 11
9
So I told them, 'I won’t be your shepherd any longer. If you die, you die. If you are killed, you are killed. And let those who remain devour each other!'
10
Then I took my staff called Favor and cut it in two, showing that I had revoked the covenant I had made with all the nations.
11
That was the end of my covenant with them. The suffering flock was watching me, and they knew that the
Lord
was speaking through my actions.
12
And I said to them, 'If you like, give me my wages, whatever I am worth; but only if you want to.' So they counted out for my wages thirty pieces of silver.
English Standard Version
Chapter 11
9
So I said, "I will not be your shepherd. What is to die, let it die. What is to be destroyed, let it be destroyed. And let those who are left devour the flesh of one another."
10
And I took my staff Favor, and I broke it, annulling the covenant that I had made with all the peoples.
11
So it was annulled on that day, and the sheep traders, who were watching me, knew that it was the word of the
Lord
.
12
Then I said to them, "If it seems good to you, give me my wages; but if not, keep them." And they weighed out as my wages thirty pieces of silver.
New International Version
Chapter 11
9
and said, "I will not be your shepherd. Let the dying die, and the perishing perish. Let those who are left eat one another’s flesh."
10
Then I took my staff called Favor and broke it, revoking the covenant I had made with all the nations.
11
It was revoked on that day, and so the oppressed of the flock who were watching me knew it was the word of the
Lord
.
12
I told them, "If you think it best, give me my pay; but if not, keep it." So they paid me thirty pieces of silver.
New King James Version
Chapter 11
9
Then I said, “I will not feed you. Let what is dying die, and what is perishing perish. Let those that are left eat each other’s flesh.”
10
And I took my staff, Beauty, and cut it in two, that I might break the covenant which I had made with all the peoples.
11
So it was broken on that day. Thus the poor of the flock, who were watching me, knew that it
was
the word of the
Lord
.
12
Then I said to them, “If it is agreeable to you, give
me
my wages; and if not, refrain.” So they weighed out for my wages thirty
pieces
of silver.
