Revelation 2:2-8
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 2
2
‘I know your deeds and your labor and perseverance, and that you cannot tolerate evil people, and you have put those who call themselves apostles to the test, and they are not, and you found them
to be
false;
3
and you have perseverance and have endured on account of My name, and have not become weary.
4
But I have
this
against you, that you have left your first love.
5
Therefore, remember from where you have fallen, and repent, and do the deeds you did at first; or else I am coming to you and I will remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent.
6
But you have this, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.
7
The one who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who overcomes, I will grant to eat from the tree of life, which is in the Paradise of God.’
8
And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write: The first and the last, who was dead, and has come to life, says this:
King James Version
Chapter 2
2
I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:
3
And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.
4
Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
5
Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
6
But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.
7
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
8
And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;

Chapter 2
2
I know your works, your labor, and your endurance, and that you cannot tolerate evil people. You have tested those who call themselves apostles and are not, and you have found them to be liars.
3
I know that you have persevered and endured hardships for the sake of my name, and have not grown weary.
4
But I have this against you: You have abandoned the love you had at first.
5
Remember then how far you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. Otherwise, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.
6
Yet you do have this: You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.
7
"Let anyone who has ears to hear listen to what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.
8
"Write to the angel of the church in Smyrna: Thus says the First and the Last, the one who was dead and came to life:
New Living Translation
Chapter 2
2
'I know all the things you do. I have seen your hard work and your patient endurance. I know you don’t tolerate evil people. You have examined the claims of those who say they are apostles but are not. You have discovered they are liars.
3
You have patiently suffered for me without quitting.
4
'But I have this complaint against you. You don’t love me or each other as you did at first!
5
Look how far you have fallen! Turn back to me and do the works you did at first. If you don’t repent, I will come and remove your lampstand from its place among the churches.
6
But this is in your favor: You hate the evil deeds of the Nicolaitans, just as I do.
7
'Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches. To everyone who is victorious I will give fruit from the tree of life in the paradise of God.
8
Write this letter to the angel of the church in Smyrna. This is the message from the one who is the First and the Last, who was dead but is now alive:

Chapter 2
2
"‘I know your works, your toil and your patient endurance, and how you cannot bear with those who are evil, but have tested those who call themselves apostles and are not, and found them to be false.
3
I know you are enduring patiently and bearing up for my name 's sake, and you have not grown weary.
4
But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first.
5
Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.

You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary.

Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first.

Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.

But you have this in your favor: You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.
