Chapter 36
1Now the heads of the fathers’ households of the family of the sons of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of the sons of Joseph, came forward and spoke before Moses and before the leaders, the heads of the fathers’ households of the sons of Israel, 2and they said, 'The Lord commanded my lord to give the land by lot to the sons of Israel as an inheritance, and my lord was commanded by the Lord to give the inheritance of our brother Zelophehad to his daughters.King James Version

1And the chief fathers of the families of the children of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of the sons of Joseph, came near, and spake before Moses, and before the princes, the chief fathers of the children of Israel: 2And they said, The Lord commanded my lord to give the land for an inheritance by lot to the children of Israel: and my lord was commanded by the Lord to give the inheritance of Zelophehad our brother unto his daughters.Christian Standard Bible

1The family heads from the clan of the descendants of Gilead—the son of Machir, son of Manasseh —who were from the clans of the sons of Joseph, approached and addressed Moses and the leaders who were heads of the Israelite families. 2They said, "The Lord commanded my lord to give the land as an inheritance by lot to the Israelites.
