Numbers 35:1-5
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 35
1
Now the
Lord
spoke to Moses in the plains of Moab, by the Jordan
opposite
Jericho, saying,
2
Command the sons of Israel that they give to the Levites from the inheritance of their possession cities to live in; and you shall give to the Levites pasture lands around the cities.
3
The cities shall be theirs to live in; and their pasture lands shall be for their cattle and for their equipment and for all their
other
animals.
4
The pasture lands of the cities which you are to give to the Levites
shall extend
from the wall of the city outward a thousand cubits around.
5
You shall also measure outside the city on the east side two thousand cubits, on the south side two thousand cubits, on the west side two thousand cubits, and on the north side two thousand cubits, with the city in the center. This shall become theirs as pasture lands for the cities.
King James Version
Chapter 35
1
And the
Lord
spake unto Moses in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho, saying,
2
Command the children of Israel, that they give unto the Levites of the inheritance of their possession cities to dwell in; and ye shall give also unto the Levites suburbs for the cities round about them.
3
And the cities shall they have to dwell in; and the suburbs of them shall be for their cattle, and for their goods, and for all their beasts.
4
And the suburbs of the cities, which ye shall give unto the Levites, shall reach from the wall of the city and outward a thousand cubits round about.
5
And ye shall measure from without the city on the east side two thousand cubits, and on the south side two thousand cubits, and on the west side two thousand cubits, and on the north side two thousand cubits; and the city shall be in the midst: this shall be to them the suburbs of the cities.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 35
1
The
Lord
again spoke to Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from Jericho:
2
"Command the Israelites to give cities out of their hereditary property for the Levites to live in and pastureland around the cities.
3
The cities will be for them to live in, and their pasturelands will be for their herds, flocks, and all their other animals.
4
The pasturelands of the cities you are to give the Levites will extend from the city wall five hundred yards on every side.
5
Measure a thousand yards outside the city for the east side, a thousand yards for the south side, a thousand yards for the west side, and a thousand yards for the north side, with the city in the center. This will belong to them as pasturelands for the cities.
New Living Translation
Chapter 35
1
While Israel was camped beside the Jordan on the plains of Moab across from Jericho, the
Lord
said to Moses,
2
Command the people of Israel to give to the Levites from their property certain towns to live in, along with the surrounding pasturelands.
3
These towns will be for the Levites to live in, and the surrounding lands will provide pasture for their cattle, flocks, and other livestock.
4
The pastureland assigned to the Levites around these towns will extend 1,500 feet from the town walls in every direction.
5
Measure off 3,000 feet outside the town walls in every direction — east, south, west, north — with the town at the center. This area will serve as the larger pastureland for the towns.
English Standard Version

3
The cities shall be theirs to dwell in, and their pasturelands shall be for their cattle and for their livestock and for all their beasts.
4
The pasturelands of the cities, which you shall give to the Levites, shall reach from the wall of the city outward a thousand cubits all around.

And you shall measure, outside the city, on the east side two thousand cubits, and on the south side two thousand cubits, and on the west side two thousand cubits, and on the north side two thousand cubits, the city being in the middle. This shall belong to them as pastureland for their cities.
