Numbers 32:5-11
New American Standard Bible
6But Moses said to the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben, 'Should your brothers go to war while you remain here?
7And why are you discouraging the sons of Israel from crossing over into the land which the Lord has given them?
8This is what your fathers did when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to see the land.
9For when they went up to the Valley of Eshcol and saw the land, they discouraged the sons of Israel so that they did not go into the land which the Lord had given them.
10So the Lord’S anger burned on that day, and He swore, saying,
11‘None of the men who came up from Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; for they did not follow Me fully,
King James Version
Chapter 32
5Wherefore, said they, if we have found grace in thy sight, let this land be given unto thy servants for a possession, and bring us not over Jordan. 6And Moses said unto the children of Gad and to the children of Reuben, Shall your brethren go to war, and shall ye sit here? 7And wherefore discourage ye the heart of the children of Israel from going over into the land which the LORD hath given them? 8Thus did your fathers, when I sent them from Kadeshbarnea to see the land. 9For when they went up unto the valley of Eshcol, and saw the land, they discouraged the heart of the children of Israel, that they should not go into the land which the LORD had given them. 10And the LORD'S anger was kindled the same time, and he sware, saying, 11Surely none of the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me:Christian Standard Bible
6But Moses asked the Gadites and Reubenites, "Should your brothers go to war while you stay here?
7Why are you discouraging the Israelites from crossing into the land the Lord has given them?
8That's what your ancestors did when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to see the land.
9After they went up as far as Eshcol Valley and saw the land, they discouraged the Israelites from entering the land the Lord had given them.
10So the Lord's anger burned that day, and he swore an oath:
11Because they did not remain loyal to me, none of the men twenty years old or more who came up from Egypt will see the land I swore to give Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob--
New Living Translation
6Do you intend to stay here while your brothers go across and do all the fighting?' Moses asked the men of Gad and Reuben.
7Why do you want to discourage the rest of the people of Israel from going across to the land the Lord has given them?
8Your ancestors did the same thing when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to explore the land.
9After they went up to the valley of Eshcol and explored the land, they discouraged the people of Israel from entering the land the Lord was giving them.
10Then the Lord was very angry with them, and he vowed,
11‘Of all those I rescued from Egypt, no one who is twenty years old or older will ever see the land I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, for they have not obeyed me wholeheartedly.

7Why do you discourage the Israelites from crossing over into the land the LORD has given them?
8This is what your fathers did when I sent them from Kadesh Barnea to look over the land.
9After they went up to the Valley of Eshkol and viewed the land, they discouraged the Israelites from entering the land the LORD had given them.
10The LORD's anger was aroused that day and he swore this oath:
11Because they have not followed me wholeheartedly, not one of those who were twenty years old or more when they came up out of Egypt will see the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob--
New King James Version
6And Moses said to the children of Gad and to the children of Reuben: “Shall your brethren go to war while you sit here?
7Now why will you discourage the heart of the children of Israel from going over into the land which the Lord has given them?
8Thus your fathers did when I sent them away from Kadesh Barnea to see the land.
9For when they went up to the Valley of Eshcol and saw the land, they discouraged the heart of the children of Israel, so that they did not go into the land which the Lord had given them.
10So the Lord’s anger was aroused on that day, and He swore an oath, saying,
11‘Surely none of the men who came up from Egypt, from twenty years old and above, shall see the land of which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, because they have not wholly followed Me,
