Numbers 3:1-5
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 3
1
Now these are
the records of
the generations of Aaron and Moses at the time when the
Lord
spoke with Moses on Mount Sinai.
2
These then are the names of the sons of Aaron: Nadab the firstborn, and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
3
These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the anointed priests, whom he ordained to serve as priests.
4
But Nadab and Abihu died in the presence of the
Lord
when they offered strange fire before the
Lord
in the wilderness of Sinai; and they had no children. So Eleazar and Ithamar served as priests in the lifetime of their father Aaron.

Then the

These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the priests which were anointed, whom he consecrated to minister in the priest's office.
4
And Nadab and Abihu died before the
Lord
, when they offered strange fire before the

Chapter 3
1
This is the family line of Aaron and Moses as it was recorded when the
Lord
spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai:
2
The names of Aaron’s sons were Nadab (the oldest), Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
3
These sons of Aaron were anointed and ordained to minister as priests.
4
But Nadab and Abihu died in the
Lord
’s presence in the wilderness of Sinai when they burned before the
Lord
the wrong kind of fire, different than he had commanded. Since they had no sons, this left only Eleazar and Ithamar to serve as priests with their father, Aaron.

Then the
Lord
said to Moses,
