Chapter 1

9of Zebulun, Eliab the son of Helon; 10of the sons of Joseph: of Ephraim, Elishama the son of Ammihud; of Manasseh, Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur; 11of Benjamin, Abidan the son of Gideoni; 12of Dan, Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai; 13of Asher, Pagiel the son of Ochran; 14of Gad, Eliasaph the son of Deuel; 15of Naphtali, Ahira the son of Enan. 16These are the men who were called from the congregation, the leaders of their fathers’ tribes; they were the heads of divisions of Israel.'
17So Moses and Aaron took these men who had been designated by name, 18and they assembled all the congregation on the first day of the second month. Then they registered by ancestry in their families, by their fathers’ households, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and upward, head by head, 19just as the Lord had commanded Moses. So he counted them in the wilderness of Sinai.
20Now the sons of Reuben, Israel’s firstborn, their descendants by their families, by their fathers’ households, according to the number of names, head by head, every male from twenty years old and upward, whoever was able to go to war, 21their numbered men of the tribe of Reuben were 46,500.
22Of the sons of Simeon, their descendants by their families, by their fathers’ households, their numbered men, according to the number of names, head by head, every male from twenty years old and upward, whoever was able to go to war, 23their numbered men of the tribe of Simeon were 59,300.

16These were the renowned of the congregation, princes of the tribes of their fathers, heads of thousands in Israel.
17And Moses and Aaron took these men which are expressed by their names: 18And they assembled all the congregation together on the first day of the second month, and they declared their pedigrees after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, by their polls. 19As the Lord commanded Moses, so he numbered them in the wilderness of Sinai.
20And the children of Reuben, Israel's eldest son, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, by their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war; 21Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Reuben, were forty and six thousand and five hundred.

16These are the men called from the community; they are leaders of their ancestral tribes, the heads of Israel’s clans."
17So Moses and Aaron took these men who had been designated by name, 18and they assembled the whole community on the first day of the second month. They recorded their ancestry by their clans and their ancestral families, counting one by one the names of those twenty years old or more, 19just as the Lord commanded Moses. He registered them in the Wilderness of Sinai:
20The descendants of Reuben, the firstborn of Israel: according to their family records by their clans and their ancestral families, counting one by one the names of every male twenty years old or more, everyone who could serve in the army, 21those registered for the tribe of Reuben numbered 46,500.
22The descendants of Simeon: according to their family records by their clans and their ancestral families, those registered counting one by one the names of every male twenty years old or more, everyone who could serve in the army, 23those registered for the tribe of Simeon numbered 59,300.

16These are the chosen leaders of the community, the leaders of their ancestral tribes, the heads of the clans of Israel.'
17So Moses and Aaron called together these chosen leaders, 18and they assembled the whole community of Israel on that very day. All the people were registered according to their ancestry by their clans and families. The men of Israel who were twenty years old or older were listed one by one, 19just as the Lord had commanded Moses. So Moses recorded their names in the wilderness of Sinai.
20 21This is the number of men twenty years old or older who were able to go to war, as their names were listed in the records of their clans and families: Reuben (Jacob’s oldest son) — 46,500 22 23Simeon — 59,300
