Numbers 14:1-8
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 14
1Then all the congregation raised their voices and cried out, and the people wept that night. 2And all the sons of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron; and the entire congregation said to them, 'If only we had died in the land of Egypt! Or even if we had died in this wilderness! 3So why is the Lord bringing us into this land to fall by the sword? Our wives and our little ones will become plunder! Would it not be better for us to return to Egypt?' 4So they said to one another, 'Let’s appoint a leader and return to Egypt!'
5Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces in the presence of all the assembly of the congregation of the sons of Israel.
6And Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, of those who had spied out the land, tore their clothes;
7and they spoke to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, saying, 'The land which we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land.
8If the Lord is pleased with us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us—a land which flows with milk and honey.

Chapter 14
1And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night. 2And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness! 3And wherefore hath the Lord brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? were it not better for us to return into Egypt? 4And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.
5Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel.
6And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes:
7And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land.
8If the Lord delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.

Chapter 14
1Then the whole community broke into loud cries, and the people wept that night. 2All the Israelites complained about Moses and Aaron, and the whole community told them, "If only we had died in the land of Egypt, or if only we had died in this wilderness! 3Why is the Lord bringing us into this land to die by the sword? Our wives and children will become plunder. Wouldn’t it be better for us to go back to Egypt?" 4So they said to one another, "Let’s appoint a leader and go back to Egypt."
5Then Moses and Aaron fell facedown in front of the whole assembly of the Israelite community.
6Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh, who were among those who scouted out the land, tore their clothes
7and said to the entire Israelite community: "The land we passed through and explored is an extremely good land.
8If the Lord is pleased with us, he will bring us into this land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and give it to us.

Chapter 14
1Then the whole community began weeping aloud, and they cried all night. 2Their voices rose in a great chorus of protest against Moses and Aaron. 'If only we had died in Egypt, or even here in the wilderness!' they complained. 3Why is the Lord taking us to this country only to have us die in battle? Our wives and our little ones will be carried off as plunder! Wouldn’t it be better for us to return to Egypt?' 4Then they plotted among themselves, 'Let’s choose a new leader and go back to Egypt!'
5Then Moses and Aaron fell face down on the ground before the whole community of Israel.
6Two of the men who had explored the land, Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh, tore their clothing.
7They said to all the people of Israel, 'The land we traveled through and explored is a wonderful land!
8And if the Lord is pleased with us, he will bring us safely into that land and give it to us. It is a rich land flowing with milk and honey.
