Numbers 11:32-35
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 11
32
And the people spent all that day, all night, and all the next day, and they gathered the quail (the one who gathered least gathered ten homers) and spread
them
out for themselves all around the camp.
33
While the meat was still between their teeth, before it was chewed, the anger of the
Lord
was kindled against the people, and the
Lord
struck the people with a very severe plague.
34
So that place was named Kibroth-hattaavah, because there they buried the people who had been greedy.
35
From Kibroth-hattaavah the people set out for Hazeroth, and they remained at Hazeroth.
King James Version
Chapter 11
32
And the people stood up all that day, and all that night, and all the next day, and they gathered the quails: he that gathered least gathered ten homers: and they spread them all abroad for themselves round about the camp.
33
And while the flesh was yet between their teeth, ere it was chewed, the wrath of the
Lord
was kindled against the people, and the
Lord
smote the people with a very great plague.
34
And he called the name of that place Kibrothhattaavah: because there they buried the people that lusted.
35
And the people journeyed from Kibrothhattaavah unto Hazeroth; and abode at Hazeroth.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 11
32
The people were up all that day and night and all the next day gathering the quail—the one who took the least gathered fifty bushels —and they spread them out all around the camp.
33
While the meat was still between their teeth, before it was chewed, the
Lord
’s anger burned against the people, and the
Lord
struck them with a very severe plague.
34
So they named that place Kibroth-hattaavah, because there they buried the people who had craved the meat.
35
From Kibroth-hattaavah the people moved on to Hazeroth and remained there.
New Living Translation
Chapter 11
32
So the people went out and caught quail all that day and throughout the night and all the next day, too. No one gathered less than fifty bushels ! They spread the quail all around the camp to dry.
33
But while they were gorging themselves on the meat — while it was still in their mouths — the anger of the
Lord
blazed against the people, and he struck them with a severe plague.
34
So that place was called Kibroth-hattaavah (which means 'graves of gluttony') because there they buried the people who had craved meat from Egypt.
35
From Kibroth-hattaavah the Israelites traveled to Hazeroth, where they stayed for some time.
English Standard Version
Chapter 11
32
And the people rose all that day and all night and all the next day, and gathered the quail. Those who gathered least gathered ten homers. And they spread them out for themselves all around the camp.
33
While the meat was yet between their teeth, before it was consumed, the anger of the
Lord
was kindled against the people, and the
Lord
struck down the people with a very great plague.
34
Therefore the name of that place was called Kibroth-hattaavah, because there they buried the people who had the craving.
35
From Kibroth-hattaavah the people journeyed to Hazeroth, and they remained at Hazeroth.
New International Version
Chapter 11
32
All that day and night and all the next day the people went out and gathered quail. No one gathered less than ten homers. Then they spread them out all around the camp.
33
But while the meat was still between their teeth and before it could be consumed, the anger of the
Lord
burned against the people, and he struck them with a severe plague.
34
Therefore the place was named Kibroth Hattaavah, because there they buried the people who had craved other food.
35
From Kibroth Hattaavah the people traveled to Hazeroth and stayed there.
New King James Version
Chapter 11
32
And the people stayed up all that day, all night, and all the next day, and gathered the quail (he who gathered least gathered ten homers); and they spread
them
out for themselves all around the camp.
33
But while the meat
was
still between their teeth, before it was chewed, the wrath of the
Lord
was aroused against the people, and the
Lord
struck the people with a very great plague.
34
So he called the name of that place Kibroth Hattaavah, because there they buried the people who had yielded to craving.
35
From Kibroth Hattaavah the people moved to Hazeroth, and camped at Hazeroth.
