Nehemiah 2:13-15
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 2
13
So I went out at night by the Valley Gate in the direction of the Dragon’s Spring and
on
to the Dung Gate, and I was inspecting the walls of Jerusalem which were broken down and its gates which had been consumed by fire.
14
Then I passed on to the Fountain Gate and the King’s Pool, but there was no place for my mount to pass.
15
So I was going up at night by the ravine and inspecting the wall. Then I entered the Valley Gate again and returned.
King James Version
Chapter 2
13
And I went out by night by the gate of the valley, even before the dragon well, and to the dung port, and viewed the walls of Jerusalem, which were broken down, and the gates thereof were consumed with fire.
14
Then I went on to the gate of the fountain, and to the king's pool: but there was no place for the beast that was under me to pass.
15
Then went I up in the night by the brook, and viewed the wall, and turned back, and entered by the gate of the valley, and so returned.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 2
13
I went out at night through the Valley Gate toward the Serpent’s Well and the Dung Gate, and I inspected the walls of Jerusalem that had been broken down and its gates that had been destroyed by fire.
14
I went on to the Fountain Gate and the King’s Pool, but farther down it became too narrow for my animal to go through.
15
So I went up at night by way of the valley and inspected the wall. Then heading back, I entered through the Valley Gate and returned.
New Living Translation
Chapter 2
13
After dark I went out through the Valley Gate, past the Jackal’s Well, and over to the Dung Gate to inspect the broken walls and burned gates.
14
Then I went to the Fountain Gate and to the King’s Pool, but my donkey couldn’t get through the rubble.
15
So, though it was still dark, I went up the Kidron Valley instead, inspecting the wall before I turned back and entered again at the Valley Gate.
English Standard Version

Chapter 2
13
By night I went out through the Valley Gate toward the Jackal Well and the Dung Gate, examining the walls of Jerusalem, which had been broken down, and its gates, which had been destroyed by fire.
14
Then I moved on toward the Fountain Gate and the King’s Pool, but there was not enough room for my mount to get through;
15
so I went up the valley by night, examining the wall. Finally, I turned back and reentered through the Valley Gate.
New King James Version

there was
no room for the animal under me to pass.
