Chapter 2

8Though Nineveh was like a pool of water throughout her days, Yet they are fleeing; 'Stop, stop,' But no one turns back. 9Plunder the silver, Plunder the gold! For there is no end to the treasure— Wealth from every kind of desirable object. 10She is emptied! Yes, she is desolate and waste! Hearts are melting and knees wobbling! Also trembling is in the entire body, And all their faces have become pale! 11Where is the den of the lions And the feeding place of the young lions, Where the lion, lioness, and lion’s cub went With nothing to disturb them?

8But Nineveh is of old like a pool of water: yet they shall flee away. Stand, stand, shall they cry; but none shall look back.
9Take ye the spoil of silver, take the spoil of gold: for there is none end of the store and glory out of all the pleasant furniture.
10She is empty, and void, and waste: and the heart melteth, and the knees smite together, and much pain is in all loins, and the faces of them all gather blackness. 11Where is the dwelling of the lions, and the feedingplace of the young lions, where the lion, even the old lion, walked, and the lion's whelp, and none made them afraid?

10Desolation, decimation, devastation! Hearts melt, knees tremble, insides churn, every face grows pale! 11Where is the lions’ lair, or the feeding ground of the young lions, where the lion and lioness prowled, and the lion’s cub, with nothing to frighten them away?

8Nineveh is like a leaking water reservoir! The people are slipping away. 'Stop, stop!' someone shouts, but no one even looks back. 9Loot the silver! Plunder the gold! There’s no end to Nineveh’s treasures — its vast, uncounted wealth. 10Soon the city is plundered, empty, and ruined. Hearts melt and knees shake. The people stand aghast, their faces pale and trembling.
11Where now is that great Nineveh, that den filled with young lions? It was a place where people — like lions and their cubs — walked freely and without fear.
