Chapter 22

43He *said to them, 'Then how does David in the Spirit call Him ‘Lord,’ saying,
44‘THE Lord SAID TO MY Lord, 'SIT AT MY RIGHT HAND, UNTIL I PUT YOUR ENEMIES UNDER YOUR FEET'?’?
45Therefore, if David calls Him ‘Lord,’ how is He his son?' 46No one was able to offer Him a word in answer, nor did anyone dare from that day on to ask Him any more questions.

43He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying, 44The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool? 45If David then call him Lord, how is he his son? 46And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.

45"If David calls him 'Lord,' how then can he be his son? " 46No one was able to answer him at all, and from that day no one dared to question him anymore.

43Jesus responded, 'Then why does David, speaking under the inspiration of the Spirit, call the Messiah ‘my Lord’? For David said,
44‘The Lord said to my Lord, Sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies beneath your feet.’
45Since David called the Messiah ‘my Lord,’ how can the Messiah be his son?'
46No one could answer him. And after that, no one dared to ask him any more questions.
