Mark 9:26-31
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 9
26
And after crying out and throwing him into terrible convulsions, it came out; and
the boy
became so much like a corpse that most
of them
said, 'He is dead!'
27
But Jesus took him by the hand and raised him, and he got up.
28
When He came into
the
house, His disciples
began
asking Him privately, '
Why is it
that we could not cast it out?'
29
And He said to them, 'This kind cannot come out by anything except prayer.'
30
And from there they went out and
began
to go through Galilee, and He did not want anyone to know
about it.
31
For He was teaching His disciples and telling them, 'The Son of Man is to be handed over to men, and they will kill Him; and when He has been killed, He will rise three days later.'
King James Version
Chapter 9
26
And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.
27
But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.
28
And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out?
29
And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.
30
And they departed thence, and passed through Galilee; and he would not that any man should know it.
31
For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 9
26
Then it came out, shrieking and throwing him into terrible convulsions. The boy became like a corpse, so that many said, "He’s dead."
27
But Jesus, taking him by the hand, raised him, and he stood up.
28
After he had gone into the house, his disciples asked him privately, "Why couldn’t we drive it out?"
29
And he told them, "This kind can come out by nothing but prayer."
30
Then they left that place and made their way through Galilee, but he did not want anyone to know it.
31
For he was teaching his disciples and telling them, "The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men. They will kill him, and after he is killed, he will rise three days later."
New Living Translation
Chapter 9
26
Then the spirit screamed and threw the boy into another violent convulsion and left him. The boy appeared to be dead. A murmur ran through the crowd as people said, 'He’s dead.'
27
But Jesus took him by the hand and helped him to his feet, and he stood up.
28
Afterward, when Jesus was alone in the house with his disciples, they asked him, 'Why couldn’t we cast out that evil spirit?'
29
Jesus replied, 'This kind can be cast out only by prayer. '
30
Leaving that region, they traveled through Galilee. Jesus didn’t want anyone to know he was there,
31
for he wanted to spend more time with his disciples and teach them. He said to them, 'The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of his enemies. He will be killed, but three days later he will rise from the dead.'
English Standard Version
Chapter 9
26
And after crying out and convulsing him terribly, it came out, and the boy was like a corpse, so that most of them said, "He is dead."
27
But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose.
28
And when he had entered the house, his disciples asked him privately, "Why could we not cast it out?"
29
And he said to them, "This kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer."
30
They went on from there and passed through Galilee. And he did not want anyone to know,
31
for he was teaching his disciples, saying to them, "The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill him. And when he is killed, after three days he will rise."
New International Version
Chapter 9
26
The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, "He’s dead."
27
But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up.
28
After Jesus had gone indoors, his disciples asked him privately, "Why couldn’t we drive it out?"
29
He replied, "This kind can come out only by prayer. "
30
They left that place and passed through Galilee. Jesus did not want anyone to know where they were,
31
because he was teaching his disciples. He said to them, "The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men. They will kill him, and after three days he will rise."
New King James Version
Chapter 9
26
Then
the spirit
cried out, convulsed him greatly, and came out of him. And he became as one dead, so that many said, “He is dead.”
27
But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose.
28
And when He had come into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, “Why could we not cast it out?”
29
So He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.”
30
Then they departed from there and passed through Galilee, and He did not want anyone to know
it.
31
For He taught His disciples and said to them, “The Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of men, and they will kill Him. And after He is killed, He will rise the third day.”
