Mark 4:4-9
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 4
4
as he was sowing, some
seed
fell beside the road, and the birds came and ate it up.
5
Other
seed
fell on the rocky
ground
where it did not have much soil; and immediately it sprang up because it had no depth of soil.
6
And when the sun had risen, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.
7
Other
seed
fell among the thorns, and the thorns came up and choked it, and it yielded no crop.
8
Other
seeds
fell into the good soil, and as they grew up and increased, they yielded a crop and produced thirty, sixty, and a hundred
times as much.
'
9
And He was saying, 'He who has ears to hear, let him hear.'
King James Version
Chapter 4
4
And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up.
5
And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth:
6
But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.
7
And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.
8
And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred.
9
And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 4
4

5
Other seed fell on rocky ground where it didn’t have much soil, and it grew up quickly, since the soil wasn’t deep.
6
When the sun came up, it was scorched, and since it had no root, it withered away.
7
Other seed fell among thorns, and the thorns came up and choked it, and it didn’t produce fruit.
8
Still other seed fell on good ground and it grew up, producing fruit that increased thirty, sixty, and a hundred times."
9
Then he said, "Let anyone who has ears to hear listen."
New Living Translation
Chapter 4
4
As he scattered it across his field, some of the seed fell on a footpath, and the birds came and ate it.
5
Other seed fell on shallow soil with underlying rock. The seed sprouted quickly because the soil was shallow.
6
But the plant soon wilted under the hot sun, and since it didn’t have deep roots, it died.
7
Other seed fell among thorns that grew up and choked out the tender plants so they produced no grain.
8
Still other seeds fell on fertile soil, and they sprouted, grew, and produced a crop that was thirty, sixty, and even a hundred times as much as had been planted!'
9
Then he said, 'Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand.'
