Mark 1:22-28
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 1
22
And they were amazed at His teaching; for He was teaching them as
one
having authority, and not as the scribes.
23
Just then there was a man in their synagogue with an unclean spirit; and he cried out,
24
saying, 'What business do you have with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are: the Holy One of God!'
25
And Jesus rebuked him, saying, 'Be quiet, and come out of him!'
26
After throwing him into convulsions and crying out with a loud voice, the unclean spirit came out of him.
27
And they were all amazed, so they debated among themselves, saying, 'What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him.'
28
Immediately the news about Him spread everywhere into all the surrounding region of Galilee.
King James Version
Chapter 1
22
And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.
23
And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out,
24
Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.
25
And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him.
26
And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him.
27
And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him.
28
And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 1
22
They were astonished at his teaching because he was teaching them as one who had authority, and not like the scribes.
23
Just then a man with an unclean spirit was in their synagogue. He cried out,
24
"What do you have to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!"
25
Jesus rebuked him saying, "Be silent, and come out of him!"
26
And the unclean spirit threw him into convulsions, shouted with a loud voice, and came out of him.
27
They were all amazed, and so they began to ask each other: "What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey him."
28
At once the news about him spread throughout the entire vicinity of Galilee.
New Living Translation
Chapter 1
22
The people were amazed at his teaching, for he taught with real authority — quite unlike the teachers of religious law.
23
Suddenly, a man in the synagogue who was possessed by an evil spirit cried out,
24
Why are you interfering with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are — the Holy One of God!'
25
But Jesus reprimanded him. 'Be quiet! Come out of the man,' he ordered.
26
At that, the evil spirit screamed, threw the man into a convulsion, and then came out of him.
27
Amazement gripped the audience, and they began to discuss what had happened. 'What sort of new teaching is this?' they asked excitedly. 'It has such authority! Even evil spirits obey his orders!'
28
The news about Jesus spread quickly throughout the entire region of Galilee.

23
Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an impure spirit cried out,
24
"What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!"
25
"Be quiet!" said Jesus sternly. "Come out of him!"
26
The impure spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek.
27
The people were all so amazed that they asked each other, "What is this? A new teaching—and with authority! He even gives orders to impure spirits and they obey him."
28
News about him spread quickly over the whole region of Galilee.
