Leviticus 25:2-7
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 25
2
Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘When you come into the land which I am going to give you, then the land shall have a Sabbath to the
Lord
.
3
For six years you shall sow your field, and for six years you shall prune your vineyard and gather in its produce,
4
but during the seventh year the land shall have a Sabbath rest, a Sabbath to the
Lord
; you shall not sow your field nor prune your vineyard.
5
You shall not reap your harvest’s aftergrowth, and you shall not gather your grapes of untrimmed vines; the land shall have a sabbatical year.
6
All of
you shall have the Sabbath
produce
of the land as food; for yourself, your male and female slaves, and your hired worker and your foreign resident, those who live as strangers among you.
7
Even your cattle and the animals that are in your land shall have all its produce to eat.
King James Version
Chapter 25
2
Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land which I give you, then shall the land keep a sabbath unto the
Lord
.
3
Six years thou shalt sow thy field, and six years thou shalt prune thy vineyard, and gather in the fruit thereof;
4
But in the seventh year shall be a sabbath of rest unto the land, a sabbath for the
Lord
: thou shalt neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard.
5
That which groweth of its own accord of thy harvest thou shalt not reap, neither gather the grapes of thy vine undressed: for it is a year of rest unto the land.
6
And the sabbath of the land shall be meat for you; for thee, and for thy servant, and for thy maid, and for thy hired servant, and for thy stranger that sojourneth with thee,
7
And for thy cattle, and for the beast that are in thy land, shall all the increase thereof be meat.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 25
2
"Speak to the Israelites and tell them: When you enter the land I am giving you, the land will observe a Sabbath to the
Lord
.
3
You may sow your field for six years, and you may prune your vineyard and gather its produce for six years.
4
But there will be a Sabbath of complete rest for the land in the seventh year, a Sabbath to the
Lord
: you are not to sow your field or prune your vineyard.
5
You are not to reap what grows by itself from your crop, or harvest the grapes of your untended vines. It is to be a year of complete rest for the land.
6
Whatever the land produces during the Sabbath year can be food for you—for yourself, your male or female slave, and the hired worker or alien who resides with you.
7
All of its growth may serve as food for your livestock and the wild animals in your land.
New Living Translation
Chapter 25
2
Give the following instructions to the people of Israel. When you have entered the land I am giving you, the land itself must observe a Sabbath rest before the
Lord
every seventh year.
3
For six years you may plant your fields and prune your vineyards and harvest your crops,
4
but during the seventh year the land must have a Sabbath year of complete rest. It is the
Lord
’s Sabbath. Do not plant your fields or prune your vineyards during that year.
5
And don’t store away the crops that grow on their own or gather the grapes from your unpruned vines. The land must have a year of complete rest.
6
But you may eat whatever the land produces on its own during its Sabbath. This applies to you, your male and female servants, your hired workers, and the temporary residents who live with you.
7
Your livestock and the wild animals in your land will also be allowed to eat what the land produces.
