Leviticus 24:17-23
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 24
17
‘Now if someone takes any human life, he must be put to death.
18
But the one who takes the life of an animal shall make restitution, life for life.
19
If someone injures his neighbor, just as he has done, so shall it be done to him:
20
fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth; just as he has injured a person, so shall it be inflicted on him.
21
So the one who kills an animal shall make restitution, but the one who kills a person shall be put to death.
22
There shall be
only
one standard for you; it shall be for the stranger as well as the native, for I am the
Lord
your God.’?'
23
Then Moses spoke to the sons of Israel, and they brought the one who had cursed outside the camp, and stoned him with stones. So the sons of Israel did just as the
Lord
had commanded Moses.
King James Version
Chapter 24
17
And he that killeth any man shall surely be put to death.
18
And he that killeth a beast shall make it good; beast for beast.
19
And if a man cause a blemish in his neighbour; as he hath done, so shall it be done to him;
20
Breach for breach, eye for eye, tooth for tooth: as he hath caused a blemish in a man, so shall it be done to him again.
21
And he that killeth a beast, he shall restore it: and he that killeth a man, he shall be put to death.
22
Ye shall have one manner of law, as well for the stranger, as for one of your own country: for I am the
Lord
your God.
23
And Moses spake to the children of Israel, that they should bring forth him that had cursed out of the camp, and stone him with stones. And the children of Israel did as the
Lord
commanded Moses.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 24
17
"If a man kills anyone, he must be put to death.
18
Whoever kills an animal is to make restitution for it, life for life.
19
If any man inflicts a permanent injury on his neighbor, whatever he has done is to be done to him:
20
fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth. Whatever injury he inflicted on the person, the same is to be inflicted on him.
21
Whoever kills an animal is to make restitution for it, but whoever kills a person is to be put to death.
22
You are to have the same law for the resident alien and the native, because I am the
Lord
your God."
23
After Moses spoke to the Israelites, they brought the one who had cursed to the outside of the camp and stoned him. So the Israelites did as the
Lord
had commanded Moses.
New Living Translation
Chapter 24
17
Anyone who takes another person’s life must be put to death.
18
Anyone who kills another person’s animal must pay for it in full — a live animal for the animal that was killed.
19
Anyone who injures another person must be dealt with according to the injury inflicted —
20
a fracture for a fracture, an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. Whatever anyone does to injure another person must be paid back in kind.
21
Whoever kills an animal must pay for it in full, but whoever kills another person must be put to death.
22
This same standard applies both to native-born Israelites and to the foreigners living among you. I am the
Lord
your God.'
23
After Moses gave all these instructions to the Israelites, they took the blasphemer outside the camp and stoned him to death. The Israelites did just as the
Lord
had commanded Moses.
English Standard Version

20
fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth; whatever injury he has given a person shall be given to him.
21
Whoever kills an animal shall make it good, and whoever kills a person shall be put to death.
22
You shall have the same rule for the sojourner and for the native, for I am the
Lord
your God."

So Moses spoke to the people of Israel, and they brought out of the camp the one who had cursed and stoned him with stones. Thus the people of Israel did as the
