Joshua 2:2-5
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 2
2
But it was told to the king of Jericho, saying, 'Behold, men from the sons of Israel have come here tonight to spy out the land.'
3
And the king of Jericho sent
word
to Rahab, saying, 'Bring out the men who have come to you, who have entered your house, for they have come to spy out all the land.'
4
But the woman had taken the two men and hidden them, and she said, 'Yes, the men came to me, but I did not know where they were from.
5
It came about, when
it was time
to shut the gate at dark, that the men went out; I do not know where the men went. Pursue them quickly, for you will overtake them.'
King James Version
Chapter 2
2
And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, Behold, there came men in hither to night of the children of Israel to search out the country.
3
And the king of Jericho sent unto Rahab, saying, Bring forth the men that are come to thee, which are entered into thine house: for they be come to search out all the country.
4
And the woman took the two men, and hid them, and said thus, There came men unto me, but I wist not whence they were:
5
And it came to pass about the time of shutting of the gate, when it was dark, that the men went out: whither the men went I wot not: pursue after them quickly; for ye shall overtake them.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 2
2
The king of Jericho was told, "Look, some of the Israelite men have come here tonight to investigate the land."
3
Then the king of Jericho sent word to Rahab and said, "Bring out the men who came to you and entered your house, for they came to investigate the entire land."
4
But the woman had taken the two men and hidden them. So she said, "Yes, the men did come to me, but I didn’t know where they were from.
5
At nightfall, when the city gate was about to close, the men went out, and I don’t know where they were going. Chase after them quickly, and you can catch up with them!"
New Living Translation
Chapter 2
2
But someone told the king of Jericho, 'Some Israelites have come here tonight to spy out the land.'
3
So the king of Jericho sent orders to Rahab: 'Bring out the men who have come into your house, for they have come here to spy out the whole land.'
4
Rahab had hidden the two men, but she replied, 'Yes, the men were here earlier, but I didn’t know where they were from.
5
They left the town at dusk, as the gates were about to close. I don’t know where they went. If you hurry, you can probably catch up with them.'
English Standard Version
