Joshua 18:1-4

2But there remained among the sons of Israel seven tribes who had not divided their inheritance.
3So Joshua said to the sons of Israel, 'How long will you put off entering to take possession of the land which the Lord, the God of your fathers, has given you?
4Provide for yourselves three men from each tribe so that I may send them, and that they may arise and walk through the land and write a description of it according to their inheritance; then they shall return to me.

1The entire Israelite community assembled at Shiloh and set up the tent of meeting there. The land had been subdued before them, 2but seven tribes among the Israelites were left who had not divided up their inheritance. 3So Joshua asked the Israelites, "How long will you delay going out to take possession of the land that the Lord, the God of your ancestors, gave you? 4Appoint for yourselves three men from each tribe, and I will send them out. They are to go and survey the land, write a description of it for the purpose of their inheritance, and return to me.New Living Translation
Chapter 18
1Now that the land was under Israelite control, the entire community of Israel gathered at Shiloh and set up the Tabernacle. 2But there remained seven tribes who had not yet been allotted their grants of land.
3Then Joshua asked them, 'How long are you going to wait before taking possession of the remaining land the Lord, the God of your ancestors, has given to you?
4Select three men from each tribe, and I will send them out to explore the land and map it out. They will then return to me with a written report of their proposed divisions of their new homeland.
