Joshua 14:8-11
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 14
8
Nevertheless my brothers who went up with me made the heart of the people melt
with fear;
but I followed the
Lord
my God fully.
9
So Moses swore on that day, saying, ‘The land on which your foot has walked shall certainly be an inheritance to you and to your children forever, because you have followed the
Lord
my God fully.’
10
And now behold, the
Lord
has let me live, just as He spoke, these forty-five years, from the time that the
Lord
spoke this word to Moses, when Israel walked in the wilderness; and now behold, I am eighty-five years old today.
11
I am still as strong today as I was on the day Moses sent me; as my strength was then, so my strength is now, for war and for going out and coming in.
King James Version
Chapter 14
8
Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the
Lord
my God.
9
And Moses sware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children's for ever, because thou hast wholly followed the
Lord
my God.
10
And now, behold, the
Lord
hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the
Lord
spake this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old.
11
As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 14
8
My brothers who went with me caused the people to lose heart, but I followed the
Lord
my God completely.
9
On that day Moses swore to me: ‘The land where you have set foot will be an inheritance for you and your descendants forever, because you have followed the
Lord
my God completely.’
10
"As you see, the
Lord
has kept me alive these forty-five years as he promised, since the
Lord
spoke this word to Moses while Israel was journeying in the wilderness. Here I am today, eighty-five years old.
11
I am still as strong today as I was the day Moses sent me out. My strength for battle and for daily tasks is now as it was then.
New Living Translation
Chapter 14
8
but my brothers who went with me frightened the people from entering the Promised Land. For my part, I wholeheartedly followed the
Lord
my God.
9
So that day Moses solemnly promised me, ‘The land of Canaan on which you were just walking will be your grant of land and that of your descendants forever, because you wholeheartedly followed the
Lord
my God.’
10
Now, as you can see, the
Lord
has kept me alive and well as he promised for all these forty-five years since Moses made this promise — even while Israel wandered in the wilderness. Today I am eighty-five years old.
11
I am as strong now as I was when Moses sent me on that journey, and I can still travel and fight as well as I could then.
English Standard Version
Chapter 14
8
But my brothers who went up with me made the heart of the people melt; yet I wholly followed the
Lord
my God.
9
And Moses swore on that day, saying, ‘Surely the land on which your foot has trodden shall be an inheritance for you and your children forever, because you have wholly followed the
Lord
my God.’
10
And now, behold, the
Lord

11
I am still as strong today as I was in the day that Moses sent me; my strength now is as my strength was then, for war and for going and coming.
New International Version
Chapter 14
8
but my fellow Israelites who went up with me made the hearts of the people melt in fear. I, however, followed the
Lord
my God wholeheartedly.
9
So on that day Moses swore to me, ‘The land on which your feet have walked will be your inheritance and that of your children forever, because you have followed the
Lord
my God wholeheartedly.’
10
"Now then, just as the
Lord
promised, he has kept me alive for forty-five years since the time he said this to Moses, while Israel moved about in the wilderness. So here I am today, eighty-five years old!
11
I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out; I’m just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then.
New King James Version
Chapter 14
8
Nevertheless my brethren who went up with me made the heart of the people melt, but I wholly followed the
Lord
my God.
9
So Moses swore on that day, saying, ‘Surely the land where your foot has trodden shall be your inheritance and your children’s forever, because you have wholly followed the
Lord
my God.’
10
And now, behold, the
Lord
has kept me alive, as He said, these forty-five years, ever since the
Lord
spoke this word to Moses while Israel wandered in the wilderness; and now, here I am this day, eighty-five years old.
11
As yet I
am as
strong this day as on the day that Moses sent me; just as my strength
was
then, so now
is
my strength for war, both for going out and for coming in.
