Joshua 1:12-16
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 1
12
But to the Reubenites, to the Gadites, and to the half-tribe of Manasseh, Joshua said,
13
Remember the word which Moses the servant of the
Lord
commanded you, saying, ‘The
Lord
your God is giving you rest, and will give you this land.’
14
Your wives, your little ones, and your livestock shall remain in the land which Moses gave you beyond the Jordan, but you shall cross ahead of your brothers in battle formation, all your valiant warriors, and shall help them,
15
until the
Lord
gives your brothers rest, as
He is giving
you, and they also possess the land which the
Lord
your God is giving them. Then you may return to your own land, and take possession of that which Moses the servant of the
Lord
gave you beyond the Jordan toward the sunrise.'
16
They answered Joshua, saying, 'All that you have commanded us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go.
King James Version
Chapter 1
12
And to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to half the tribe of Manasseh, spake Joshua, saying,
13
Remember the word which Moses the servant of the
Lord
commanded you, saying, The
Lord
your God hath given you rest, and hath given you this land.
14
Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall remain in the land which Moses gave you on this side Jordan; but ye shall pass before your brethren armed, all the mighty men of valour, and help them;
15
Until the
Lord
have given your brethren rest, as he hath given you, and they also have possessed the land which the
Lord
your God giveth them: then ye shall return unto the land of your possession, and enjoy it, which Moses the
Lord
'S servant gave you on this side Jordan toward the sunrising.
16
And they answered Joshua, saying, All that thou commandest us we will do, and whithersoever thou sendest us, we will go.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 1
12
Joshua said to the Reubenites, the Gadites, and half the tribe of Manasseh:
13
"Remember what Moses the
Lord
’s servant commanded you when he said, ‘The
Lord
your God will give you rest, and he will give you this land.’
14
Your wives, dependents, and livestock may remain in the land Moses gave you on this side of the Jordan. But your best soldiers must cross over in battle formation ahead of your brothers and help them
15
until the
Lord
gives your brothers rest, as he has given you, and they too possess the land the
Lord
your God is giving them. You may then return to the land of your inheritance and take possession of what Moses the
Lord
’s servant gave you on the east side of the Jordan."
16
They answered Joshua, "Everything you have commanded us we will do, and everywhere you send us we will go.
New Living Translation
Chapter 1
12
Then Joshua called together the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh. He told them,
13
Remember what Moses, the servant of the
Lord
, commanded you: ‘The
Lord
your God is giving you a place of rest. He has given you this land.’
14
Your wives, children, and livestock may remain here in the land Moses assigned to you on the east side of the Jordan River. But your strong warriors, fully armed, must lead the other tribes across the Jordan to help them conquer their territory. Stay with them
15
until the
Lord
gives them rest, as he has given you rest, and until they, too, possess the land the
Lord
your God is giving them. Only then may you return and settle here on the east side of the Jordan River in the land that Moses, the servant of the
Lord
, assigned to you.'
16
They answered Joshua, 'We will do whatever you command us, and we will go wherever you send us.

gave you after he said, ‘The
Lord

14
Your wives, your children and your livestock may stay in the land that Moses gave you east of the Jordan, but all your fighting men, ready for battle, must cross over ahead of your fellow Israelites. You are to help them
15

Lord
your God is giving them. After that, you may go back and occupy your own land, which Moses the servant of the

Then they answered Joshua, "Whatever you have commanded us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go.
