Jonah 1:12-14
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 1
12And he said to them, 'Pick me up and hurl me into the sea. Then the sea will become calm for you, because I know that on account of me this great storm has come upon you.' 13However, the men rowed desperately to return to land, but they could not, because the sea was becoming even stormier against them. 14Then they cried out to the Lord and said, 'We earnestly pray, O Lord, do not let us perish on account of this man’s life, and do not put innocent blood on us; for You, Lord, have done as You pleased.'King James Version
Chapter 1
12And he said unto them, Take me up, and cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you: for I know that for my sake this great tempest is upon you. 13Nevertheless the men rowed hard to bring it to the land; but they could not: for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous against them. 14Wherefore they cried unto the Lord, and said, We beseech thee, O Lord, we beseech thee, let us not perish for this man's life, and lay not upon us innocent blood: for thou, O Lord, hast done as it pleased thee.Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 1
12He answered them, "Pick me up and throw me into the sea so that it will calm down for you, for I know that I’m to blame for this great storm that is against you." 13Nevertheless, the men rowed hard to get back to dry land, but they couldn’t because the sea was raging against them more and more.New Living Translation
13Instead, the sailors rowed even harder to get the ship to the land. But the stormy sea was too violent for them, and they couldn’t make it.
14Then they cried out to the Lord, Jonah’s God. 'O Lord,' they pleaded, 'don’t make us die for this man’s sin. And don’t hold us responsible for his death. O Lord, you have sent this storm upon him for your own good reasons.'

New King James Version
13Nevertheless the men rowed hard to return to land, but they could not, for the sea continued to grow more tempestuous against them.
