John 1:2-12

Chapter 1
2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him not even one thing came into being that has come into being. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of mankind. 5 And the Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not grasp it.

A man came, one sent from God, and his name was John.
7
He came as a witness, to testify about the Light, so that all might believe through him.
8
He was not the Light, but he came to testify about the Light.
9
This was the true Light that, coming into the world, enlightens every person.
10
He was in the world, and the world came into being through Him, and yet the world did not know Him.
11
He came to His own, and His own people did not accept Him.
12
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name,

And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
