Jeremiah 50:33-35
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 50
33
This is what the
Lord
of armies says:
'The sons of Israel are oppressed,
And the sons of Judah as well;
And all who took them captive have held them firmly,
They have refused to let them go.
34
Their Redeemer is strong, the
Lord
of armies is His name;
He will vigorously plead their case
So that He may bring rest to their land,
But turmoil to the inhabitants of Babylon.
35
A sword against the Chaldeans,' declares the
Lord
,
'And against the inhabitants of Babylon
And against her leaders and her wise men!
King James Version
Chapter 50
33
Thus saith the
Lord
of hosts; The children of Israel and the children of Judah were oppressed together: and all that took them captives held them fast; they refused to let them go.
34
Their Redeemer is strong; the
Lord
of hosts is his name: he shall throughly plead their cause, that he may give rest to the land, and disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon.
35
A sword is upon the Chaldeans, saith the
Lord
, and upon the inhabitants of Babylon, and upon her princes, and upon her wise men.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 50
33
This is what the
Lord
of Armies says:
Israelites and Judeans alike have been oppressed.
All their captors hold them fast;
they refuse to release them.
34
Their Redeemer is strong;
the
Lord
of Armies is his name.
He will fervently champion their cause
so that he might bring rest to the earth
but turmoil to those who live in Babylon.
35
A sword is over the Chaldeans— this is the
Lord
’s declaration— against those who live in Babylon,
against her officials, and against her sages.
New Living Translation
Chapter 50
33
This is what the
Lord
of Heaven’s Armies says:
'The people of Israel and Judah have been wronged.
Their captors hold them and refuse to let them go.
34
But the one who redeems them is strong.
His name is the
Lord
of Heaven’s Armies.
He will defend them
and give them rest again in Israel.
But for the people of Babylon
there will be no rest!
35
'The sword of destruction will strike the Babylonians,'
says the
Lord
.
'It will strike the people of Babylon —
her officials and wise men, too.
English Standard Version
Chapter 50
33
"Thus says the
Lord
of hosts: The people of Israel are oppressed, and the people of Judah with them. All who took them captive have held them fast; they refuse to let them go.
34
Their Redeemer is strong; the
Lord
of hosts is his name. He will surely plead their cause, that he may give rest to the earth, but unrest to the inhabitants of Babylon.
35
"A sword against the Chaldeans, declares the
Lord
,
and against the inhabitants of Babylon,
and against her officials and her wise men!
New International Version
Chapter 50
33
This is what the
Lord
Almighty says:
"The people of Israel are oppressed,
and the people of Judah as well.
All their captors hold them fast,
refusing to let them go.
34
Yet their Redeemer is strong;
the
Lord
Almighty is his name.
He will vigorously defend their cause
so that he may bring rest to their land,
but unrest to those who live in Babylon.
35
"A sword against the Babylonians!"
declares the
Lord
—
"against those who live in Babylon
and against her officials and wise men!
New King James Version

They have refused to let them go.
34
Their Redeemer
is
strong;
The
Lord
of hosts
is
His name.
He will thoroughly plead their case,
That He may give rest to the land,
And disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon.
