Jeremiah 50:19-25

Chapter 50

19And I will bring Israel back to his pasture and he will graze on Carmel and Bashan, and his desire will be satisfied in the hill country of Ephraim and Gilead. 20In those days and at that time,’ declares the Lord, ‘search will be made for the wrongdoing of Israel, but there will be none; and for the sins of Judah, but they will not be found; for I will forgive those whom I leave as a remnant.’
21'Against the land of Merathaim, go up against it, And against the inhabitants of Pekod. Kill and completely destroy them,' declares the Lord, 'And do according to everything that I have commanded you. 22The noise of battle is in the land, And great destruction. 23How the hammer of the whole earth Has been cut off and broken! How Babylon has become An object of horror among the nations! 24I set a trap for you and you were also caught, Babylon, While you yourself were not aware; You have been found and also seized Because you have engaged in conflict with the Lord.' 25The Lord has opened His armory And has brought out the weapons of His indignation, For it is a work of the Lord God of armies In the land of the Chaldeans.

Chapter 50

19And I will bring Israel again to his habitation, and he shall feed on Carmel and Bashan, and his soul shall be satisfied upon mount Ephraim and Gilead.
20In those days, and in that time, saith the Lord, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found: for I will pardon them whom I reserve.
21Go up against the land of Merathaim, even against it, and against the inhabitants of Pekod: waste and utterly destroy after them, saith the Lord, and do according to all that I have commanded thee.
22A sound of battle is in the land, and of great destruction.
23How is the hammer of the whole earth cut asunder and broken! how is Babylon become a desolation among the nations!
24I have laid a snare for thee, and thou art also taken, O Babylon, and thou wast not aware: thou art found, and also caught, because thou hast striven against the Lord.
25The Lord hath opened his armoury, and hath brought forth the weapons of his indignation: for this is the work of the Lord God of hosts in the land of the Chaldeans.

21Attack the land of Merathaim, and those living in Pekod. Put them to the sword; completely destroy them— this is the Lord’s declaration— do everything I have commanded you. 22The sound of war is in the land — a crushing blow! 23How the hammer of the whole earth is cut down and smashed! What a horror Babylon has become among the nations! 24Babylon, I laid a trap for you, and you were caught, but you did not even know it. You were found and captured because you pitted yourself against the Lord. 25The Lord opened his armory and brought out his weapons of wrath, because it is a task of the Lord God of Armies in the land of the Chaldeans.

19And I will bring Israel home again to its own land, to feed in the fields of Carmel and Bashan, and to be satisfied once more in the hill country of Ephraim and Gilead. 20In those days,' says the Lord, 'no sin will be found in Israel or in Judah, for I will forgive the remnant I preserve.
21'Go up, my warriors, against the land of Merathaim and against the people of Pekod. Pursue, kill, and completely destroy them, as I have commanded you,' says the Lord. 22'Let the battle cry be heard in the land, a shout of great destruction. 23Babylon, the mightiest hammer in all the earth, lies broken and shattered. Babylon is desolate among the nations! 24Listen, Babylon, for I have set a trap for you. You are caught, for you have fought against the Lord. 25The Lord has opened his armory and brought out weapons to vent his fury. The terror that falls upon the Babylonians will be the work of the Sovereign Lord of Heaven’s Armies.

How desolate is Babylon among the nations! 24I set a trap for you, Babylon, and you were caught before you knew it; you were found and captured because you opposed the Lord. 25The Lord has opened his arsenal and brought out the weapons of his wrath, for the Sovereign Lord Almighty has work to do in the land of the Babylonians.
