Jeremiah 50:15-22
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 50
15
Raise your battle cry against her on every side!
She has given herself up, her towers have fallen,
Her walls have been torn down.
For this is the vengeance of the
Lord
:
Take vengeance on her;
As she has done
to others, so
do to her.
16
Eliminate the sower from Babylon
And the one who wields the sickle at the time of harvest;
From the sword of the oppressor
Each of them will turn back to his own people
And each of them will flee to his own land.
17
Israel is a scattered flock, the lions have driven
them
away. The first one
who
devoured him was the king of Assyria, and this last one
who
has gnawed his bones is Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.
18
Therefore this is what the
Lord
of armies, the God of Israel says: ‘Behold, I am going to punish the king of Babylon and his land, just as I punished the king of Assyria.
19
And I will bring Israel back to his pasture and he will graze on Carmel and Bashan, and his desire will be satisfied in the hill country of Ephraim and Gilead.
20
In those days and at that time,’ declares the
Lord
, ‘search will be made for the wrongdoing of Israel, but there will be none; and for the sins of Judah, but they will not be found; for I will forgive those whom I leave as a remnant.’
21
'Against the land of Merathaim, go up against it,
And against the inhabitants of Pekod.
Kill and completely destroy them,' declares the
Lord
,
'And do according to everything that I have commanded you.
22
The noise of battle is in the land,
And great destruction.
King James Version
Chapter 50
15
Shout against her round about: she hath given her hand: her foundations are fallen, her walls are thrown down: for it is the vengeance of the
Lord
: take vengeance upon her; as she hath done, do unto her.
16
Cut off the sower from Babylon, and him that handleth the sickle in the time of harvest: for fear of the oppressing sword they shall turn every one to his people, and they shall flee every one to his own land.
17
Israel is a scattered sheep; the lions have driven him away: first the king of Assyria hath devoured him; and last this Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath broken his bones.
18
Therefore thus saith the
Lord
of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, as I have punished the king of Assyria.
19
And I will bring Israel again to his habitation, and he shall feed on Carmel and Bashan, and his soul shall be satisfied upon mount Ephraim and Gilead.
20
In those days, and in that time, saith the
Lord
, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found: for I will pardon them whom I reserve.
21
Go up against the land of Merathaim, even against it, and against the inhabitants of Pekod: waste and utterly destroy after them, saith the
Lord
, and do according to all that I have commanded thee.
22
A sound of battle is in the land, and of great destruction.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 50
15
Raise a war cry against her on every side!
She has thrown up her hands in surrender;
her defense towers have fallen;
her walls are demolished.
Since this is the
Lord
’s vengeance,
take your vengeance on her;
as she has done, do the same to her.
16
Cut off the sower from Babylon
as well as him who wields the sickle at harvest time.
Because of the oppressor’s sword,
each will turn to his own people,
each will flee to his own land.
17
Israel is a stray lamb, chased by lions.
The first who devoured him was the king of Assyria;
the last who crushed his bones
was King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon.
18
Therefore, this is what the
Lord
of Armies, the God of Israel, says: I am about to punish the king of Babylon and his land just as I punished the king of Assyria.
19
I will return Israel to his grazing land,
and he will feed on Carmel and Bashan;
he will be satisfied
in the hill country of Ephraim and of Gilead.
20
In those days and at that time— this is the
Lord
’s declaration— one will search for Israel’s iniquity,
but there will be none,
and for Judah’s sins,
but they will not be found,
for I will forgive those I leave as a remnant.
21
Attack the land of Merathaim,
and those living in Pekod.
Put them to the sword;
completely destroy them— this is the
Lord
’s declaration— do everything I have commanded you.
22
The sound of war is in the land —
a crushing blow!
New Living Translation
Chapter 50
15
Shout war cries against her from every side.
Look! She surrenders!
Her walls have fallen.
It is the
Lord
’s vengeance,
so take vengeance on her.
Do to her as she has done to others!
16
Take from Babylon all those who plant crops;
send all the harvesters away.
Because of the sword of the enemy,
everyone will run away and rush back to their own lands.
17
'The Israelites are like sheep
that have been scattered by lions.
First the king of Assyria ate them up.
Then King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon cracked their bones.'
18
Therefore, this is what the
Lord
of Heaven’s Armies,
the God of Israel, says:
'Now I will punish the king of Babylon and his land,
just as I punished the king of Assyria.
19
And I will bring Israel home again to its own land,
to feed in the fields of Carmel and Bashan,
and to be satisfied once more
in the hill country of Ephraim and Gilead.
20
In those days,' says the
Lord
,
'no sin will be found in Israel or in Judah,
for I will forgive the remnant I preserve.
21
'Go up, my warriors, against the land of Merathaim
and against the people of Pekod.
Pursue, kill, and completely destroy them,
as I have commanded you,' says the
Lord
.
22
'Let the battle cry be heard in the land,
a shout of great destruction.

Chapter 50
15
Raise a shout against her all around;
she has surrendered;
her bulwarks have fallen;
her walls are thrown down.
For this is the vengeance of the
Lord
:
take vengeance on her;
do to her as she has done.
16
Cut off from Babylon the sower,
and the one who handles the sickle in time of harvest;

and every one shall flee to his own land.
17
"Israel is a hunted sheep driven away by lions. First the king of Assyria devoured him, and now at last Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has gnawed his bones.
18
Therefore, thus says the
Lord
of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I am bringing punishment on the king of Babylon and his land, as I punished the king of Assyria.
19
I will restore Israel to his pasture, and he shall feed on Carmel and in Bashan, and his desire shall be satisfied on the hills of Ephraim and in Gilead.
