Chapter 37
17Now King Zedekiah sent men and took him out; and in his palace the king secretly asked him and said, 'Is there a word from the Lord?' And Jeremiah said, 'There is!' Then he said, 'You will be handed over to the king of Babylon!' 18Moreover, Jeremiah said to King Zedekiah, 'In what way have I sinned against you, or your servants, or this people, that you have put me in prison? 19And where are your prophets who prophesied to you, saying, ‘The king of Babylon will not come against you or against this land’? 20But now, please listen, my lord the king; please let my plea come before you and do not make me return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, so that I will not die there.'King James Version

And Jeremiah said, There is: for, said he, thou shalt be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon. 18Moreover Jeremiah said unto king Zedekiah, What have I offended against thee, or against thy servants, or against this people, that ye have put me in prison? 19Where are now your prophets which prophesied unto you, saying, The king of Babylon shall not come against you, nor against this land? 20Therefore hear now, I pray thee, O my lord the king: let my supplication, I pray thee, be accepted before thee; that thou cause me not to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.Christian Standard Bible

17King Zedekiah later sent for him and received him, and in his house privately asked him, "Is there a word from the Lord? ""There is," Jeremiah responded. He continued, "You will be handed over to the king of Babylon." 18Then Jeremiah said to King Zedekiah, "How have I sinned against you or your servants or these people that you have put me in prison? 19Where are your prophets who prophesied to you, claiming, 'The king of Babylon will not come against you and this land'? 20So now please listen, my lord the king. May my petition come before you. Don't send me back to the house of Jonathan the scribe, or I will die there."New Living Translation
18Then Jeremiah asked the king, 'What crime have I committed? What have I done against you, your attendants, or the people that I should be imprisoned like this?
19Where are your prophets now who told you the king of Babylon would not attack you or this land?
20Listen, my lord the king, I beg you. Don’t send me back to the dungeon in the house of Jonathan the secretary, for I will die there.'

17King Zedekiah sent for him and received him. The king questioned him secretly in his house and said, “Is there any word from the LORD?” Jeremiah said, “There is.” Then he said, “You shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.” 18Jeremiah also said to King Zedekiah, “What wrong have I done to you or your servants or this people, that you have put me in prison? 19Where are your prophets who prophesied to you, saying, ‘The king of Babylon will not come against you and against this land’? 20Now hear, please, O my lord the king: let my humble plea come before you and do not send me back to the house of Jonathan the secretary, lest I die there.”New International Version
