Chapter 36

12he went down to the king’s house, into the scribe’s chamber. And behold, all the officials were sitting there—Elishama the scribe, Delaiah the son of Shemaiah, Elnathan the son of Achbor, Gemariah the son of Shaphan, Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and all the other officials. 13And Micaiah declared to them all the words that he had heard when Baruch read from the book to the people. 14Then all the officials sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, who was the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, to Baruch, saying, 'Take in your hand the scroll from which you have read to the people and come.' So Baruch the son of Neriah took the scroll in his hand and came to them. 15And they said to him, 'Sit down, please, and read it to us.' So Baruch read it to them. 16When they had heard all the words, they turned in fear one to another. And they said to Baruch, 'We will certainly report all these words to the king.' 17Then they asked Baruch, saying, 'Tell us, please, how did you write all these words? Was it at Jeremiah’s dictation?' 18And Baruch said to them, 'He dictated all these words to me, and I wrote them with ink on the book.' 19Then the officials said to Baruch, 'Go, hide yourself, you and Jeremiah, and do not let anyone know where you are.'
20So they came to the king in the courtyard, but they had deposited the scroll in the chamber of Elishama the scribe; and they reported all the words to the king.

12Then he went down into the king's house, into the scribe's chamber: and, lo, all the princes sat there, even Elishama the scribe, and Delaiah the son of Shemaiah, and Elnathan the son of Achbor, and Gemariah the son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and all the princes. 13Then Michaiah declared unto them all the words that he had heard, when Baruch read the book in the ears of the people. 14Therefore all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, unto Baruch, saying, Take in thine hand the roll wherein thou hast read in the ears of the people, and come. So Baruch the son of Neriah took the roll in his hand, and came unto them. 15And they said unto him, Sit down now, and read it in our ears. So Baruch read it in their ears. 16Now it came to pass, when they had heard all the words, they were afraid both one and other, and said unto Baruch, We will surely tell the king of all these words. 17And they asked Baruch, saying, Tell us now, How didst thou write all these words at his mouth? 18Then Baruch answered them, He pronounced all these words unto me with his mouth, and I wrote them with ink in the book. 19Then said the princes unto Baruch, Go, hide thee, thou and Jeremiah; and let no man know where ye be.
20And they went in to the king into the court, but they laid up the roll in the chamber of Elishama the scribe, and told all the words in the ears of the king.

12he went down to the scribe's chamber in the king's palace. All the officials were sitting there--Elishama the scribe, Delaiah son of Shemaiah, Elnathan son of Achbor, Gemariah son of Shaphan, Zedekiah son of Hananiah, and all the other officials. 13Micaiah reported to them all the words he had heard when Baruch read from the scroll in the hearing of the people. 14Then all the officials sent word to Baruch through Jehudi son of Nethaniah, son of Shelemiah, son of Cushi, saying, "Bring the scroll that you read in the hearing of the people, and come." So Baruch son of Neriah took the scroll and went to them. 15They said to him, "Sit down and read it in our hearing." So Baruch read it in their hearing.
16When they had heard all the words, they turned to each other in fear and said to Baruch, "We must surely tell the king all these things." 17Then they asked Baruch, "Tell us, how did you write all these words? At his dictation? "
18Baruch said to them, "At his dictation. He recited all these words to me while I was writing on the scroll in ink."
19The officials said to Baruch, "You and Jeremiah must hide and tell no one where you are." 20Then, after depositing the scroll in the chamber of Elishama the scribe, the officials came to the king at the courtyard and reported everything in the hearing of the king.

Chapter 36

12he went down to the secretary’s room in the palace where the administrative officials were meeting. Elishama the secretary was there, along with Delaiah son of Shemaiah, Elnathan son of Acbor, Gemariah son of Shaphan, Zedekiah son of Hananiah, and all the other officials. 13When Micaiah told them about the messages Baruch was reading to the people, 14the officials sent Jehudi son of Nethaniah, grandson of Shelemiah and great-grandson of Cushi, to ask Baruch to come and read the messages to them, too. So Baruch took the scroll and went to them. 15Sit down and read the scroll to us,' the officials said, and Baruch did as they requested.
16When they heard all the messages, they looked at one another in alarm. 'We must tell the king what we have heard,' they said to Baruch. 17But first, tell us how you got these messages. Did they come directly from Jeremiah?'
18So Baruch explained, 'Jeremiah dictated them, and I wrote them down in ink, word for word, on this scroll.'
19You and Jeremiah should both hide,' the officials told Baruch. 'Don’t tell anyone where you are!' 20Then the officials left the scroll for safekeeping in the room of Elishama the secretary and went to tell the king what had happened.

20And they went to the king, into the court; but they stored the scroll in the chamber of Elishama the scribe, and told all the words in the hearing of the king.
