Jeremiah 31:2-6
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 31
2
This is what the
Lord
says:
'The people who survived the sword
Found grace in the wilderness—
Israel, when it went to find its rest.'
3
The
Lord
appeared to him long ago,
saying,
'I have loved you with an everlasting love;
Therefore I have drawn you out with kindness.
4
I will build you again and you will be rebuilt,
Virgin of Israel!
You will take up your tambourines again,
And go out to the dances of the revelers.
5
Again you will plant vineyards
On the hills of Samaria;
The planters will plant
And will enjoy
the fruit.
6
For there will be a day when watchmen
On the hills of Ephraim call out,
‘Arise, and let’s go up
to
Zion,
To the
Lord
our God.’?'
King James Version
Chapter 31
2
Thus saith the
Lord
, The people which were left of the sword found grace in the wilderness; even Israel, when I went to cause him to rest.
3
The
Lord
hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.
4
Again I will build thee, and thou shalt be built, O virgin of Israel: thou shalt again be adorned with thy tabrets, and shalt go forth in the dances of them that make merry.
5
Thou shalt yet plant vines upon the mountains of Samaria: the planters shall plant, and shall eat them as common things.
6
For there shall be a day, that the watchmen upon the mount Ephraim shall cry, Arise ye, and let us go up to Zion unto the
Lord
our God.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 31
2
This is what the
Lord
says:
The people who survived the sword
found favor in the wilderness.
When Israel went to find rest,
3
the
Lord
appeared to him from far away.
I have loved you with an everlasting love;
therefore, I have continued to extend faithful love to you.
4
Again I will build you so that you will be rebuilt,
Virgin Israel.
You will take up your tambourines again
and go out in joyful dancing.
5
You will plant vineyards again
on the mountains of Samaria;
the planters will plant and will enjoy the fruit.
6
For there will be a day when watchmen will call out
in the hill country of Ephraim,
"Come, let’s go up to Zion,
to the
Lord
our God!"
New Living Translation
Chapter 31
2
This is what the
Lord
says:
'Those who survive the coming destruction
will find blessings even in the barren land,
for I will give rest to the people of Israel.'
3
Long ago the
Lord
said to Israel:
'I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love.
With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself.
4
I will rebuild you, my virgin Israel.
You will again be happy
and dance merrily with your tambourines.
5
Again you will plant your vineyards on the mountains of Samaria
and eat from your own gardens there.
6
The day will come when watchmen will shout
from the hill country of Ephraim,
‘Come, let us go up to Jerusalem
to worship the
Lord
our God.’'
