New American Standard Bible
Chapter 26
15
Only know for certain that if you put me to death, you will bring innocent blood on yourselves, and on this city and its inhabitants; for truly the
Lord
has sent me to you to speak all these words so that you hear them.'
16
Then the officials and all the people said to the priests and the prophets, 'No death sentence for this man! For he has spoken to us in the name of the
Lord
our God.'
17
Then some of the elders of the land rose up and spoke to all the assembly of the people, saying,

Chapter 26
15
But know ye for certain, that if ye put me to death, ye shall surely bring innocent blood upon yourselves, and upon this city, and upon the inhabitants thereof: for of a truth the LORD hath sent me unto you to speak all these words in your ears.
16
Then said the princes and all the people unto the priests and to the prophets; This man
is
not worthy to die: for he hath spoken to us in the name of the LORD our God.
17
Then rose up certain of the elders of the land, and spake to all the assembly of the people, saying,

But know for certain that if you put me to death, you will bring innocent blood on yourselves, on this city, and on its residents, for it is certain the Lord has sent me to speak all these things directly to you."
16
Then the officials and all the people told the priests and prophets, "This man doesn't deserve the death sentence, for he has spoken to us in the name of the Lord our God! "
17
Some of the elders of the land stood up and said to all the assembled people,

But if you kill me, rest assured that you will be killing an innocent man! The responsibility for such a deed will lie on you, on this city, and on every person living in it. For it is absolutely true that the
Lord
sent me to speak every word you have heard.'
16
Then the officials and the people said to the priests and prophets, 'This man does not deserve the death sentence, for he has spoken to us in the name of the
Lord
our God.'
17
Then some of the wise old men stood and spoke to all the people assembled there.

Be assured, however, that if you put me to death, you will bring the guilt of innocent blood on yourselves and on this city and on those who live in it, for in truth the LORD has sent me to you to speak all these words in your hearing.'
