Jeremiah 23:33-35
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 23
33
Now when this people or the prophet or a priest asks you, saying, ‘What is the pronouncement of the
Lord
?’ then you shall say to them, ‘What pronouncement?’ The
Lord
declares, ‘I will abandon you.’
34
Then as for the prophet or the priest or the people who say, ‘The pronouncement of the
Lord
,’ I will bring punishment upon that person and his household.
35
This is what each one of you will say to his neighbor and to his brother: ‘What has the
Lord
answered?’ or, ‘What has the
Lord
spoken?’
King James Version
Chapter 23
33
And when this people, or the prophet, or a priest, shall ask thee, saying, What is the burden of the
Lord
? thou shalt then say unto them, What burden? I will even forsake you, saith the
Lord
.
34
And as for the prophet, and the priest, and the people, that shall say, The burden of the
Lord
, I will even punish that man and his house.
35
Thus shall ye say every one to his neighbour, and every one to his brother, What hath the
Lord
answered? and, What hath the
Lord
spoken?
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 23
33
"Now when these people or a prophet or a priest asks you, ‘What is the burden of the
Lord
?’ you will respond to them, ‘What is the burden? I will throw you away! This is the
Lord
’s declaration.’
34
As for the prophet, priest, or people who say, ‘The burden of the
Lord
,’ I will punish that man and his household.
35
This is what each man is to say to his friend and to his brother: ‘What has the
Lord
answered?’ or ‘What has the
Lord
spoken?’
New Living Translation
Chapter 23
33
Suppose one of the people or one of the prophets or priests asks you, ‘What prophecy has the
Lord
burdened you with now?’ You must reply, ‘You are the burden! The
Lord
says he will abandon you!’
34
If any prophet, priest, or anyone else says, ‘I have a prophecy from the
Lord
,’ I will punish that person along with his entire family.
35
You should keep asking each other, ‘What is the
Lord
’s answer?’ or ‘What is the
Lord
saying?’
English Standard Version
Chapter 23
33
"When one of this people, or a prophet or a priest asks you, ‘What is the burden of the
Lord
?’ you shall say to them, ‘You are the burden, and I will cast you off, declares the
Lord
.’
34
And as for the prophet, priest, or one of the people who says, ‘The burden of the
Lord
,’ I will punish that man and his household.
35
Thus shall you say, every one to his neighbor and every one to his brother, ‘What has the
Lord
answered?’ or ‘What has the
Lord
spoken?’
New International Version
Chapter 23
33
"When these people, or a prophet or a priest, ask you, ‘What is the message from the
Lord
?’ say to them, ‘What message? I will forsake you, declares the
Lord
.’
34
If a prophet or a priest or anyone else claims, ‘This is a message from the
Lord
,’ I will punish them and their household.
35
This is what each of you keeps saying to your friends and other Israelites: ‘What is the
Lord
’s answer?’ or ‘What has the
Lord
spoken?’
New King James Version
Chapter 23
33
“So when these people or the prophet or the priest ask you, saying, ‘What is the oracle of the
Lord
?’ you shall then say to them, ‘What oracle?’ I will even forsake you,” says the
Lord
.
34
“And
as for
the prophet and the priest and the people who say, ‘The oracle of the
Lord
!’ I will even punish that man and his house.
35
Thus every one of you shall say to his neighbor, and every one to his brother, ‘What has the
Lord
answered?’ and, ‘What has the
Lord
spoken?’
