Jeremiah 1:6-10
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 1
6
Then I said, 'Oh, Lord
God
!
Behold, I do not know how to speak,
Because I am a youth.'
7
But the
Lord
said to me,
'Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’
Because everywhere I send you, you shall go,
And all that I command you, you shall speak.
8
Do not be afraid of them,
For I am with you to save you,' declares the
Lord
.
9
Then the
Lord
stretched out His hand and touched my mouth, and the
Lord
said to me,
'Behold, I have put My words in your mouth.
10
See, I have appointed you this day over the nations and over the kingdoms,
To root out and to tear down,
To destroy and to overthrow,
To build and to plant.'
King James Version
Chapter 1
6
Then said I, Ah, Lord
God
! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.
7
But the
Lord
said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.
8
Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the
Lord
.
9
Then the
Lord
put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the
Lord
said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.
10
See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 1
6
But I protested, "Oh no, Lord
God
! Look, I don’t know how to speak since I am only a youth."
7
Then the
Lord
said to me:
Do not say, "I am only a youth,"
for you will go to everyone I send you to
and speak whatever I tell you.
8
Do not be afraid of anyone,
for I will be with you to rescue you. This is the
Lord
’s declaration.
9
Then the
Lord
reached out his hand, touched my mouth, and told me:
I have now filled your mouth with my words.
10
See, I have appointed you today
over nations and kingdoms
to uproot and tear down,
to destroy and demolish,
to build and plant.
New Living Translation

8
And don’t be afraid of the people, for I will be with you and will protect you. I, the
Lord
, have spoken!'
9
Then the
Lord
reached out and touched my mouth and said,
'Look, I have put my words in your mouth!
10
Today I appoint you to stand up
against nations and kingdoms.
Some you must uproot and tear down,
destroy and overthrow.
Others you must build up
and plant.'
