James 1:7-11
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 1
7For that person ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, 8being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
9Now the brother or sister of humble circumstances is to glory in his high position;
10but the rich person is to glory in his humiliation, because like flowering grass he will pass away.
11For the sun rises with its scorching heat and withers the grass; and its flower falls off and the beauty of its appearance is destroyed; so also the rich person, in the midst of his pursuits, will die out.
King James Version
Chapter 1
7For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 8A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. 9Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted: 10But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away. 11For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 1
7That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord, 8being double-minded and unstable in all his ways.
9Let the brother of humble circumstances boast in his exaltation,
10but let the rich boast in his humiliation because he will pass away like a flower of the field.
11For the sun rises and, together with the scorching wind, dries up the grass; its flower falls off, and its beautiful appearance perishes. In the same way, the rich person will wither away while pursuing his activities.
New Living Translation
Chapter 1
7Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.
9Believers who are poor have something to boast about, for God has honored them.
10And those who are rich should boast that God has humbled them. They will fade away like a little flower in the field.
11The hot sun rises and the grass withers; the little flower droops and falls, and its beauty fades away. In the same way, the rich will fade away with all of their achievements.
English Standard Version
Chapter 1
7For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
9Let the lowly brother boast in his exaltation,
10and the rich in his humiliation, because like a flower of the grass he will pass away.
11For the sun rises with its scorching heat and withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beauty perishes. So also will the rich man fade away in the midst of his pursuits.
New International Version
Chapter 1
7That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.
9Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position.
10But the rich should take pride in their humiliation--since they will pass away like a wild flower.
11For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed. In the same way, the rich will fade away even while they go about their business.
New King James Version

7For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
9Let the lowly brother glory in his exaltation,
10but the rich in his humiliation, because as a flower of the field he will pass away.
11For no sooner has the sun risen with a burning heat than it withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beautiful appearance perishes. So the rich man also will fade away in his pursuits.
