Haggai 2:13-22

Chapter 2
13Then Haggai said, 'If one who is unclean from a corpse touches any of these things, will the latter become unclean?' And the priests answered, 'It will become unclean.' 14Then Haggai responded and said, '?‘So is this people. And so is this nation before Me,’ declares the Lord, ‘and so is every work of their hands; and what they offer there is unclean. 15But now, do consider from this day onward: before one stone was placed on another in the temple of the Lord, 16from that time when one came to a grain heap of twenty measures, there would be only ten; and when one came to the wine vat to draw fifty measures, there would be only twenty. 17I struck you and every work of your hands with scorching wind, mildew, and hail; yet you did not come back to Me,’ declares the Lord. 18‘Do consider from this day onward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month; from the day when the temple of the Lord was founded, consider: 19Is the seed still in the barn? Even including the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree, it has not produced fruit. Yet from this day on I will bless you.’?'
20Then the word of the Lord came a second time to Haggai on the twenty-fourth day of the month, saying,
21Speak to Zerubbabel governor of Judah, saying, ‘I am going to shake the heavens and the earth.
22And I will overthrow the thrones of kingdoms and destroy the power of the kingdoms of the nations; and I will overthrow the chariots and their riders, and the horses and their riders will go down, every one by the sword of another.’

And the priests answered and said, It shall be unclean. 14Then answered Haggai, and said, So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saith the LORD; and so is every work of their hands; and that which they offer there is unclean. 15And now, I pray you, consider from this day and upward, from before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of the LORD: 16Since those days were, when one came to an heap of twenty measures, there were but ten: when one came to the pressfat for to draw out fifty vessels out of the press, there were but twenty. 17I smote you with blasting and with mildew and with hail in all the labours of your hands; yet ye turned not to me, saith the LORD. 18Consider now from this day and upward, from the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, even from the day that the foundation of the LORD'S temple was laid, consider it. 19Is the seed yet in the barn? yea, as yet the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree, hath not brought forth: from this day will I bless you.
20And again the word of the LORD came unto Haggai in the four and twentieth day of the month, saying,
21Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I will shake the heavens and the earth;
22And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the heathen; and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.

15"Now from this day on, think carefully: Before one stone was placed on another in the Lord's temple,
16what state were you in? When someone came to a grain heap of twenty measures, it only amounted to ten; when one came to the winepress to dip fifty measures from the vat, it only amounted to twenty.
17I struck you--all the work of your hands--with blight, mildew, and hail, but you didn't turn to me--this is the Lord's declaration.
18From this day on, think carefully; from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, from the day the foundation of the Lord's temple was laid; think carefully.
19Is there still seed left in the granary? The vine, the fig, the pomegranate, and the olive tree have not yet produced. But from this day on I will bless you."
20The word of the Lord came to Haggai a second time on the twenty-fourth day of the month:
21"Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah: I am going to shake the heavens and the earth.
22I will overturn royal thrones and destroy the power of the Gentile kingdoms. I will overturn chariots and their riders. Horses and their riders will fall, each by his brother's sword.
New Living Translation
14Then Haggai responded, 'That is how it is with this people and this nation, says the Lord. Everything they do and everything they offer is defiled by their sin.
15Look at what was happening to you before you began to lay the foundation of the Lord’s Temple.
16When you hoped for a twenty-bushel crop, you harvested only ten. When you expected to draw fifty gallons from the winepress, you found only twenty.
17I sent blight and mildew and hail to destroy everything you worked so hard to produce. Even so, you refused to return to me, says the Lord.
18Think about this eighteenth day of December, the day when the foundation of the Lord’s Temple was laid. Think carefully.
19I am giving you a promise now while the seed is still in the barn. You have not yet harvested your grain, and your grapevines, fig trees, pomegranates, and olive trees have not yet produced their crops. But from this day onward I will bless you.'
20On that same day, December 18, the Lord sent this second message to Haggai:
21Tell Zerubbabel, the governor of Judah, that I am about to shake the heavens and the earth.
22I will overthrow royal thrones and destroy the power of foreign kingdoms. I will overturn their chariots and riders. The horses will fall, and their riders will kill each other.

18From this day on, from this twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, give careful thought to the day when the foundation of the LORD's temple was laid. Give careful thought:
20The word of the LORD came to Haggai a second time on the twenty-fourth day of the month:
21Tell Zerubbabel governor of Judah that I am going to shake the heavens and the earth.
22I will overturn royal thrones and shatter the power of the foreign kingdoms. I will overthrow chariots and their drivers; horses and their riders will fall, each by the sword of his brother.
